I've just replaced the tyres on my 61 Morgan Plus 4. Same as before Vredestein Classics 165 R15. After they had put them on the wire wheels and balanced them I asked what pressure they had put in them, which was 30 psi. I said i would be reducing this to 20-22 psi and they strongly recommended against this insisting the tyres wouldn't be covered by warranty or whatever for anything lower than 28 psi, all sorts of mutterings about the sidewalls. The previous Vredesteins were on there for 15 years with no problems - any comments?

Load of nonsense if you ask me. 22 psi is fine for such a light car.

Ask them to put it in writing. That often sorts out the facts from the BS....

22 should be fine. At 28 the ride will be awful

30 psi is better for track driving when you need minimal tyre wall flexing. (I actually used to run 38 psi front , 36 psi rear when racing)
For the road anything from 18 psi to 24 psi depending upon your driving style and preference is normal for a trad Morgan.

Take a good compromise, go for 26psi.
I tried low pressures and high pressures and for me 26 works well.
At 22 psi I get the feeling of an unstable drive and 28psi provides a bumpy ride.
You have to find out your personal comfort zone.
Not so complicated to change tyre pressure at any petrol station.
