My thoughts too Bruce, the Plus 8 has a bigger footpint (could it be any smaller than the 4/4 Sport) and of course carries a lot more weight on the front wheels and you really have to stomp hard to lock a front is my experience.

The Sport would lock up with minimal input with the Conti's, the Toyo's were a lot better but the tendency was still to lock up but they were better in the wet.

It is made from two sheets of perspex laminated together and cut to accept the bowls. The legs are made fro Panga Panga and shaped. I bought the wood from Surrey Hardwoods who supply all types of exotic woods

A proper bodge from me today. The right rear indicator on the Landy failed yesterday whilst 'er indoors was on her way back from the water park. Not the fuse or bulb, but the contacts in the bulb holder had corroded and failed.

No problem getting hold of Defender light units, they are only around £4 for a pattern OEM job (£41 for a LR original part, would you believe?) but delivery takes a few days and we need the Landy again on Monday. We don't have the Fiat any more (traded in) and there's no way you can get 2 paddleboards and associated gubbins on the Morgan (good use case for a CX-T, I reckon).

So, cut the light tails, remove the plug from the rear of the unit, drill an M8 hole though the base of the bulb holder, ripping out the old contacts. Solder one wire to the centre contact of the bulb, wrap the exposed length of another wire around the base of the bulb, a bit of heat shrink to keep them isolated, feed the wires through the hole and out through the base of the holder, and jam the bulb back in to the holder with a bit of tape to hold it firmly in place. A chocolate block connector to hook the new wires into the cut tails, and we're back in action.

The new holders will be arriving next week, but I'm tempted to see how long this particular bodge will last before I replace them properly.

Indeed. My worry is not the longevity of the bodge, but what if a proper engineer gets to see it? I'm not sure I could bear the embarrassment! grin2
