+1 same as Tim, another advantage of the storm cover is the inevitable if there are birds around! Tim, do you remember Robs car when parked outside the Premier Inn in Carlisle!!!!! What had those Gulls been eating?

I have done both depending upon the weather. I generally also use the storm cover as well, especially on the S1 Roadster as rain got in via the louvres and the car would miss like crazy.

The S1 had Devol bushes so no need to grease the front for 3k, what I now struggle with is where to store a grease gun if we ever do again a long road trip, Sorrento was just over 3k when we did it in the S1.

Nothing to do with the bird seed on it….. 🤣

Tonneau cover and storm cover for me

Can’t be bothered with the hood, but mine is a 4 seater so it’s a bit more of an operation

For 32 years I didn't have a hood on my +4 racer , so that was easy .... tonneau or nothing.

Now we have a hood on our +8 I still tend not to use it for parking overnight. Like Tim and Colin I prefer to use the tonneau and the storm cover. (and like JohnV6 I value it covering the louvres)

This does keep prying eyes away from the interior, which is not the case with the hood up.

The only time I didn't put the storm cover on was when at the hotel with Vinmog for the Montlhey event. Very heavy rain overnight not only flooded the road to the circuit but managed to enter the engine bay of my Morgan via the bonnet louvres. It took quite a while to dry everything out before the car would start.

We had a similar event in Casteltown , Isle of Man on a SwanMog adventure. We parked up in front of the castle & I had my blue S1. One poor Mog owner had an ivory car with mohair hood parked next to me. When we all got back the seagill squadron had hit only the ivory car & no misses. I think it was 30 or 40 shots. They must have been the pathfinder squadron so we exited fast before the 1000 bomber raid.

One refinement I introduced on one of our Scottish jaunts a few years back was the addition of a length of 4mm shock cord, running windscreen spindle to rear rack over the centre of the windscreen. It doesn't need to be tight, just enough to make a slight ridge for the storm cover. That way rain sheds off it rather than pooling in the middle, which it can do if you have just the tonneau cover on.

Hood and storm cover for me. Unless absolutely guaranteed to be dry overnight and then tonneau cover and storm cover.

The storm cover keeps prying eyes and sticky fingers away from the car as well as keeping the car and engine dry. It also discourages people from sitting on the car for pictures. A friend ended up with dented bonnets once at a hotel in Wales.
