Hamilton is not particularly a favourite of mine, but Max’s attitude just to walk away without even checking on a fellow driver in my book stinks. Especially after all the noise Max made about Lewis being disrespectful by celebrating the win at Silverstone whilst another driver was (being checked over as precaution) in hospital. I think Horner was quieter than normal because he knew that Max was mostly to blame and Lewis could have been seriously injured, or worse.

I missed the start and watched the last 20 laps. No real surprise to se the “contenders” take each other out but awesome to see the McClarens take 1-2. Max seems to be reverting to his early days when he was too gung-ho. Things are moving towards the Senna v Prost antics with Max taking the Senna attitude of “ I am not giving an inch so back off or we collide”. His ignoring Hamilton and apparent lack of concern reinforce this reversion. It is good to see hard racing instead of processions but the fear factor of crashing seems to be creating an over aggressive mentality. The Halo is certainly proving a bonus. A commentator was also postulating whether Max could keep taking Hamilton out to maintain his points advantage. Really? But then.....Shumacker v Hill rings a bell.

Cooperman ... was working outside thinking the same thing .... you beat me to it.
I see problems with the whole spectrum of racing and my opinion is that it stems from two main things.
British Touring Cars have been allowed to become a contact series to generate 'excitement' for the telly-watchers and, by extension, to please the large car companies that see it as no more than a big-audience extended advert ..... the 'Rubbing Is Racing' b*ll*x belongs in stock-cars and Nascar ... it never previously had a place in mainstream racing .... but it's infected virtually the entirety of motorsport to the point they're having to run dedicated programmes to try and eradicate it from junior karting !!
Add to that the fact it's really difficult to get yourself killed or even badly injured in F1 these days and you end up with dodgems for rich entitled brats.
When the consequence was fiery death then drivers had respect for the cars and each other ... now the consequence is annoying your team boss and maybe losing your seat to team politics ... goes some way to explaining why the behaviour (and real racing) is often better in battles lower down the field where drivers feel their position is more precarious.
No-one wants to see drivers maimed or killed, but the unintended consequence of improved safety largely removing personal risk from racing is that its nature inevitably changes ... and into something lesser and just a bit petty.

Certainly if these antics continue one or both will end up dead. F1 need to get a handle on this & not just worry about the spectacle. Maybe ban both for the rest of the season might focus their minds.

IcePack .... my thoughts are that it's very unlikely either of them will end up dead ... hence these antics will flourish.
Not in any way wishing harm on either of them ... but the nature of racing has changed with the massive increases in safety since Senna ... and we're seeing that play out on the track .... to my mind in a way that diminishes the sport.

"SAY IT LOUD .... LUDDITE AND PROUD!!" 😁
Not really .... 24 cylinder, quad turbo, boosted with dark matter energy from an adjacent universe! ... bring it on if it's quicker .... developments in the mechanics of cars is the essence of the sport.
Where I diverge is in other areas .... car racing is a sport, and as such is a test of driver skill (and, yes, bravery) and machine .... we're probably already at the point where, within the regulated and very finite confines of a racetrack, we could develop an AI that would outdrive the opposition two times out of three .... do we think that the dummy who's Dad paid the most so they could sit there as a passenger not touching anything for the duration of the race deserves to spray champagne to the adulation of the crowd? .....and if your car needs a battalion of computers to stop your clumsy inputs launching it into the landscape then you need to up your driving game or the designer made a poor car.
Won't go on (and I can on the subject of us sleepwalking into modern electronics usurping driver skill .... to everyone's eventual boredom 😁) .... as this is someone else's F1 thread 🙂

"dodgems for rich entitled brats" That's a cracker as someone famous was often heard to say. I am not certain that the long hard slog up to this level deserves this attitude of entitlement however there is often a degree of self-importance that develops the higher you climb in life. What is it they say - oxygen gets thinner the higher you climb?

Once I realised that F1 was no longer a true Motor Sport and more aligned to an Endemol production (think Big Brother + numerous so called reality junk) I'm ok with it, this was around the time that they all got power steering in their cars so quite a while now.
Lauda behind the wheel time was the last REAL F1 for me when they all just got on with the job with no playing to camera, or far less of it.
That's why I liked Kimi so much, he wouldn't play the games the media wanted, respect as that takes guts in the slimy sponsorship world they inhabit, he is the very last of that heroic era of racing.

Rich if you catch the highlights look at the post race interviews prior to them going up to the podium.
The two McLaren drivers perform the most painful product placement I have seen on F1.
They appear to have attached a full 2kg mans watch on top of their logo'd onsie and constantly scratch their head and smooth their hair in order to display it.
Then we watched Max turn up for the "whoops" interview only to arrive drinking from a Red Bull can so obviously only to do the same with a wrist lump time and time again.
Product placement seems to be the new mantra. The interview was conducted by David Coulthard, Sporting Ambassador for Heineken. Don't drink and drive kids, you'll spill it.
I am just waiting for the first one to have the title sponsor henna tattooed on their forehead for the season. I say Henna because they can then change it each year.
