There is no problem with ECU’s

However there is a problem with Body Control units ( the Bradley Box), Fan control modules and air con modules.

I’m some way through sorting the Air con modules, and I’ll work on the other two boxes If someone wants to fund it, I can’t fund it myself….
All of these boxes are potted electronics which means that the epoxy potting compound has to be removed before any reverse engineering can happen

Epoxy potting compounds are particularly resilient, which means nasty chemicals have to be used , which takes time, significant H & S assessment and process and a lot of care….

Yes they said themselves to me they must have got the price wrong and put it too cheap. They were inundated with people wanting to buy it.

It was sold with a warranty, as a dealer you cannot sell a used vehicle with no warranty. Only on a trade to trade sale to another car dealer can a vehicle be sold as seen, never to a private customer. As said above, you cannot under any terms / sale agreement put “sold as seen” no warranty and take away consumers rights.

Lots of these types of vehicles are sold on a sale or return basis, so the dealer do not own the stock (not sure if this was this case on this one), so it could be the owners / customers who dictate a low price to the dealer for a quick sale. Stock is difficult to find at the moment so dealers are just happy to get the vehicles in, advertised and sold for a commission fee. Instead of sitting on stock for months for the same commission fee.

They may say that, but legally it's a meaningless statement.

I cannot see RTCC not knowing the price of an Aero S1. Whilst they are a little known for loving the trads more they have sold and serviced dozens of Aero over the years.

I would guess that it was on consignment for someone who needed to sell in a hurry and just wanted the cash? The fact that it went so fast gives me that idea. If they had multiple interests and were looking for the best price they would have hung on and got more I suspect. Price low and lead it into a bidding war is a common technique, if not a fun one.

As for the warranty risk it is not necessarily with the dealer. If it was on consignment it could be sold as seen, especially at that price. Or all they need to do is sell one of the many aftermarket warranty's and the pain is out of their hands in most cases. I had an authorised Porsche Centre do just that to me years ago.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It was fixed under the manufacturer's warranty but still a PITA to get towed the 80-odd miles, and my dinner was cold when I eventually got home.

My understanding is that they were selling it on behalf of a friend. The car needed a few items attending including paintwork, tyres, interior woodwork etc. It also needed servicing.

As they sold another S1 for more money only a few months ago it seems unlikely that they'd lower the price for a similar car without good reason.

They didn’t try a bidding war - as I tried to buy it, very honourable garage and deposit taken, so sold. They didn’t even mention wanting to sell for more money in-fairness.

Doesn’t matter if sold on consignment for a customer - if a dealer / garage invoices a car from their books they are legally obliged to provide a warranty. As you say it doesn’t have to be in house, can be a 3rd party warranty provider. However finding a 3rd party to give a 6 month warranty with high payout on that age car would be difficult. Hence why most do an in-house warranty.

A good buy I think and be lovely to see it when done.
