Found a fuel station (at last) and filled the tank up and sure enough the engine warning light came on as described as above. Started and ran ok though! So a great excuse now to go out and drive the car some more so the light goes out but I can tell the wife i am fixing the car!

Before any of that check the alloy nipples on the spark plugs. If they are at all loose they will totally confuse the ECU. Any time my light comes on I ALWAYS (so far) find one or both nipples loose.

Before I went on my jaunt this morning I pulled both caps off and sure enough both ali nipples were loose. Tightened them up before I went out but engine light stayed on regardless. However the car felt smoother so was of benefit to have checked, thanks for the tip.

Excellent runout only issue was drivers side indicator fell off! Noticed only as i could smell melting plastic. Yikes! Clealy i did a rubbish job of changing the indicator surround the other day. Hey ho. Wonder if I can find some suitable looking metal bullet indictaors to replace the plastic morgan items?
