About one year ago I change my hexagon wheelnuts over to twoeared spinners. Undo the nuts with the MWS brass spinner was a easy job, but now I undo the twoeared spinners for the German MOT. Very frustrating. Undo the spinners with the soft hideside doesn‘t work. Undo the spinners with the Copperfield work, but now there are some dents at the spinners, also a little damaged. Why not get one of Lionel's 2 eared billet spanners ? you need a breaker bar as well but no more dented or stuck on spinners.

Correct one to use is actually a lead mallet - lead being softer than both brass and copper. No need for fancy sockets and the like when you have the right tool in the first place Arwyn

Fancy sockets have got to be better than whacking it!
It does however seem to me to defeat the whole purpose of having eared spinners in the first place. They were specifically designed to be hit with a hammer to enable fast wheel changes. If one prefers to use a socket wrench to avoid damage, a perfectly reasonable thing to want to do, then why not use the fasteners specifically designed for the job?
