Done about 400 miles in the car since I got it earlier this month and am learning some of the quirks of morgans, thanks to your help mainly!  Recently a squeal has begun to develop on down shifts then it started on throttle lift off as well. Its really quite loud and is seemingly getting worse. On down shifts it begins at the clutch bite point which makes me think it is clutch related. But it makes the noise on throttle lift as well which does not have a bite point. Which makes me wonder if something is about to fail? Has anyone else experienced this please? I would rather have my rattly steering wheel back over this!

The first thing I would check is drive belt alignment, it can track from one side to the other of the rear pulley when going from power on to over run and can rub on the guide plates and cause squeaking. You will find plenty of threads on how to adjust if you do a search.

Agreed, almost certainly drive belt alignment rather than the clutch. Dust can also cause this if you have driven over a bit of dusty road recently? I am sure the rattly steering wheel could return as well as the squeal 😁. This car will never be one for cruising along silently.

My rhythmic squeak stopped when I had the original sprocket replaced with one of the poly covered ones.

I find that my Morgan gets quieter the longer I drive it. Although come to think of it, that could be my hearing is getting worse.

Belt tension also caused a groan-like low-pitched squeal for me.
