What I was thinking was to put 3.83 litres of oil in engine, mark dipstick at that point as Low, add 1 litre & mark that level as high....

The engine number on my 4/4 cross references to a Fiat Argenta, if yours does too (132D1.000) then I suggest a Fiat factory Argenta Owners Handbook as a source document, service settings given are different to those in my Morgan factory handbook (which appear to be for an earlier Fiat engine).

I've ordered the Haynes manual from eBay, arriving Saturday, though how much will look the same as our engine will be interesting to see. It started life with fuel injection but judging from the bills and info that came with the car it had the single twin-choke Weber swapped in years ago.

Fortunately, the Haynes Fiat Argenta manual also covers the earlier 132 2 litre fitted with a single twin choke Weber.
If your car has the standard Fiat twin cam ADF carb fitted this is better illustrated in the less common Autobooks Fiat 132 manual.
