It is easier to start at the engine and work down but the best way is to start at the silencer and work up. The overlap then faces downwards minimising the chance of water seeping in and loosening the wrap.

If you start furthest from the cylinder the wrap is effectively more streamlined. This makes deterioration from weather less likely and also stops debris being forced into the overlap of the wrap making it easier to clean apparently. This is my intention.

I’m sure there is some devious mathematical formula to enable one to work out how much wrap is required, based on 2” tape. However can anyone who has actually done it tell me what size roll to buy? I only plan to wrap the header pipes not the whole exhaust.

If no-one comes forward with the answer or a mathematical equation...... my advice would be to buy some inexpensive dressmaking ribbon, say 1" wide, and find your domestic broom handle as a slightly reduced-scale template. You'll only need to wrap say a 1 foot length to establish the proportions. Then with a bit of fairly simple maths you should be able to scale-up the dimensions and figure the answer as to the quantity you will need for the exhaust, before you over-or under-purchase the real (expensive) stuff. As a rule of thumb though, such jobs always seem to require more than you have to hand -- think bicycle handlebar tapes for example.

I used some of the wrap on my Boartrack Racer bike project in three spots. It was not warrantied against fading if you did not use a high quality black silicone spray on them after they've been seasoned through a few heat cycles. Mine are staying very nice, although I've not run them much yet. If yours says to use the silicone spray, do it...

Question for you guys. Does Morgan have any rhyme or reason on the type or color of exhaust wrap that they use? I ordered the exhaust wrap from the factory when I ordered my car. For the most part, I had seen tan/gold wrap coming from the factory on most cars. However, was surprised to see what appeared to be black wrap on my car in the factory pics. At that time, 98% of the wrap was black, with just a tiny bit appearing tan up near the cylinders on the direct pipe contact portions of the tape. However, as the pipes have heated, the black has slowly changed to a golden color, to where now my wrap is about 85% gold, with the residual closer to the cats being black. So I am assuming they switched to a color changing wrap. I've never wrapped my pipes on any other vehicle, so I am assuming this is normal given the type of wrap used. I now have just over 2K miles in a little over 4 months if that gives any idea of my use.

I much prefer the gold color, so this is a good thing for me, just initially unexpected.

the Titanium wrap takes a nice golden color once heated, just like stainless steel clamps and bands and pipes.
