Morgan have long since been synonymous with the historic Classic Trials as many will know. Modern times have proved a little too rough for low cars, but the Motor Cycling Club who organise the 'Big Three', the Exeter, Lands End and Edinburgh Trials every year, recognise that there are many historic cars wishing to become involved yet again and Morgan are no exception. They have recently introduced a specific class known as Class R, in order to attract those cars out again. Class R is all on tarmac surfaces, and follows many of the historic hills used from the last 120 years. There is a mild competitive element involved (following the route being one..!) such as a few steep hill starts etc. It's entirely suitable for any Morgan in fact, and I know that the MCC are keen to attract more to this Class. In fact, Charles Neal (Miscellany editor) is a big advocate, and last weekends Exeter Trial saw around half a dozen entered, including Tim Ayers in one car. The regulations are now out for Easter's Lands End Trial, so have a look in the link or if you're a facebook fan try there... It's a great adventure & a nice safe test of whether your navigator will still talk to you afterwards.. http://www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/the-lands-end-trial/By way of a postscript, I'm scheduled to enter with the inaugural drive of the new car I've been beavering away on, although this is subject to DVLA etc etc..

I’ve been thinking about Class R for the next Edinburgh that will be in my part of the world. I understand it is all tarmac but I looked at one of the route books and cross matched with Ordnance Survey maps and Google Street View. Some of the roads did look surprisingly “rough” and I would perhaps think twice about them as my car is relatively low.
Any thoughts with regard to venturing out in a modern road orientated Morgan not modified for trials?

I completed the Exeter last week and had the most amazing time in my 4/4 .... class R
I have signed up for Lands End which is a bit longer than the Exeter and I am looking for a navigator,
This Trial will have regional starts from Hampshire, Devon or Gloucestershire I am happy to start from any of these locations.
Its really important for Morgans to be involved with these trials as back in the day... well look at the first post in this thread.
Please feel free to contact me.

Jane Jane, well done it must have been fun. Here is a link featuring your trial and probably a picture of your car. If you are not a Facebook fan send me a PM of your car reg and I'll send you the picture or pictures if you like. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/01/15/jane.jpg)
