BTR axle hub nut socket size is 1&5/16" AF, 3/4 W or, 33mm confirmed by Melvyn :-)
Imperial size one available below. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/sJUAAOSwPxpg~u-H/s-l1600.jpg) ¾" square drive but the depth might be useful.

It‘s available with the more usual 1/2“ drive at the (Classic) MINI Dealers like MINI SPARES. See some posts earlier. https://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/Accessories/Tools/TOOL04I see the link doesn‘t work. Look at Minispares.com and search „tool04“. 12GBP incl. VAT. Greets René

I have been following this thread with interest but I am a little mystified. Googling has not been helpful. Forgive my ignorance but what are "flangedrive spanners and sockets"?

Must admit that ones got me fooled. The only variant that springs to mind is a crows foot spanner, useful when access is tight. I have a set around somewhere. Couldn't resist throwing this into the fray as well ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/tpUkpIg.jpg)

I've just bought a set of ten (10mm - 19mm / 3/8" drive) on the Bay for general purpose use, for under £15. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/01/18/Crows-foot-spanners.md.jpg)

It should be flank drive The sockets and spanners drive on the flanks of the nut or bolt, as opposed to the corners. Supposed to help reduce the risk of the corners rounding off

I have been following this thread with interest but I am a little mystified. Googling has not been helpful. Forgive my ignorance but what are "flangedrive spanners and sockets"? Oh, sorry about. Simon has it named in the best way. „flangedrive“ is a usual word in Germany for a new technique. In cause it sounds English I thought it was a worldwide known spec. Usual in old times spanners and nuts wear at the the corner of a nut. But the corner is a very small point and often damaged by a lot of things. So if the corner is worn the nut looses its edges, difficult to open. Newer tools have a total different idea: not the sharp corner, edge is the point of wear. They build up the force to open at the flange, the flat side of the nut. So in Germany they are called „flangedrive“. Sorry about the confusing. Just found: https://www.serenco.nl/en/catalog/category/view/s/metrinch/id/32932/correct: Wall drive… Greets René

Thanks René, I understand what you are saying now. I think the sockets you are referring to are what we would call 6 point sockets rather than the more common 12 point sockets. 🛠️
Actually, having looked at the website you referenced, the sockets you are referring to are perhaps a variation on 6 point sockets that I have not seen before. I need more room in my toolbox!!!

Hello Calypso Red, It‘s not only that they are sixpoint sockets. They are styled not in the classic way, more than the „metrinch“ Tools, but not so extreme. But they work in the same way. Greets René
