Yes, perfectly so far. I will relearn the TB ( how to video) when the new filter is installed. More to follow!

Interesting mods and something I have long been considering.
What is the trumpet device next to the heater box?
What stops water dripping through the bonnet vents spoiling the air filter?

Excellent questions, Morganeer! 1- The trumpet is a "Ford T-Model"-horn ( Oogah horn) 2- Nothing. I will put some protection on it ( precharge wrap) to protect it whenever it gets soaky outside

Looks good Robert with filter high enough above engine to receive cool air via louvres I wouldn't worry about water ingress under hood, not much gets in anyway otherwise it would be a lot dirtier there. FWIW my M3W had the K & N style filter low down and up front. Torrential rain seemed to have no effect on its performance.

My T16 +4 had a foam air filter in a similar position & I had no issues with it.

That looks like the pre GDI Duratec ? What part number is that K&N filter as it looks flatter than the K&N 2993 on the GDI pictured

@ Richard: glad to hear your assessment on the filter position, I was a little worried after the first test drive when I opened up the hood and the usual heat struck me - but during driving, I did not encounter any issues or decrease of torque. And the coolest thing is: you can hear the hissing from the air being sucked in @ Pheasant: to replace the factory filter, you need the K&N E-2993. But this one needed to be a little smaller to fit under the bonnet; it is the K&N RU-1460.

Would a conical K&N of same length fit there Robert? If such is available it might be an improvement on surface area. For reference this is the truly humungous one on Andrew Thompson's race winning ARV6. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/zlidu92.jpeg)

Wow, that fits in there... Well, I shall produce some more cardboard templates and see what's possible, sure there are a few inches left to fill The only thing still bothering me is the MAF sensor part "touching" the hot coolant pipe (why did they not continue the silicone hose anyway?) - it will require a little more fiddling to create a little more distance. Thanks for triggering me!
