Two outings this week. A Hopmog trip to Hole Park Gardens nr Rolvenden on Wednesday and a meet up with friends at Chartwell today for coffee then lunch at The Aperfield Inn at Biggin Hill. The bluebell display at Hole Park - usually pretty spectacular at this time of year - was a bit disappointing as they were just past their best. We missed the peak display by about a week, but the rhododendron blooms and stroll through "garlic valley" made up for it. Very nice. We did Kew gardens this week after not visiting since 1978. A fantastic place.

Out and about in the New Forest today. Enjoying the late Spring sunshine on the roads less travelled. We stopped for a photo op at St. Leonard's Barn, on the site of a C12 abbey. What remains are the ruins of a huge C14 barn with C16 barn built inside it. According to Natural England, the original barn was probably the largest in Britain at the time, being some 70m long by 33m wide. Took a nice 50 mile run in the sunshine on Sunday. Took a nap when I got home. Woke up Monday to find out I have COVID.
