![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/02/11/socket.md.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/02/11/socket2.md.jpg) This is available from scparts.co.uk, 01293 847200 It's listed as 'Special tool' for 42mm octagonal spinners, 3/4" drive, part no. 479748. Cost is £48 inc vat ( same as 2018) This has 3 great advantages. No dented wings, ditto wheel rims. The best bit is you can use a torque wrench. I started with 60ftlbs and marked the spinners against a marked spoke. I found only one of the self tightening spinners moved (tighter). At 80ftlbs there has been no movement at all. Why beat the sh*t out of your spinners with a hammer to silly ftlbs when you can easily set them all at a modest torque value and easily get them undone again without the need of a 10 foot spanner? I know some one will have been using a hammer for 80 years without a problem but we can all have an off day! No finantial interest and no hammer. This looks promising. What length of lever are you using?

Just mentioning that you can do an awful lot of butchery with a six foot cheater bar ... good quality steel twisting like cheese ...I know this from sad experience (though not on the Morgan fortunately) 🙂
I wouldn't go overboard with the leverage!

What length of lever are you using? To undo I use a standard breaker bar and to do up I use a standard torque wrench set to 80ftlbs. Simples!

Agreed.i have a 750mm bar to tighten. Ditto and I would suggest the max length you use with a small grunt to tighten. The MG style two ear spinner removal tool I carry in the car is shorter but with the drama of an unscheduled wheel change plus a couple of extra grunts, is just adequate to remove if previously tightened as above. Having said that 80 lbft sounds too low for a spinner and closer to what I would expect for each of the five nuts on a flange wheel hub.

Aren't spinners self tightening? So you just nip them up and epicycling action does the rest.

After owning my 4/4 for 11 years, I have given up trying to get a torque setting for the wires. Depends on where you look. Old timers tools or JaguarI just nip them up. After a while I need a rather long breaker bar to get them undone.
