May have been asked before, but has anyone got information on a suspension upgrade for the Plus Four? I note Lebrands do coilover shocks for the Plus Six. I find the suspension of my Plus Four bouncy (as it is light) and it crashes a bit over potholes & bumps. I suppose any upgrade would invalidate the warranty.

Suggest contacting SSL Derek. They have suspension upgrades for all Morgan's. They are not supply agents but actually develop the upgrades themselves based on qualification and experience.

Librands don't actually manufacture suspension upgrades, as Richard suggests talk to SSL

I am taking to Peter at SSL and though nothing is manufactured for Plus Four, he is on the case.

I asked my dealer about this, as I saw the Plus Six upgrade and I agree with the OP that the Plus Four suspension is too hard, to the point that it is detrimental to handling when driven on anything other than a smooth road (just my opinion).
I was told that they had met with SSL and they thought MMC had done a good job with the Plus Four and couldn’t really improve on it.

While Dan and Peter at SSL initially said that they did not think that the Plus Four suspension could be improved, my guess is that now that the cars have been on the road for a period faults are starting to emerge.

They went out of their ways to produce coil over damper units with adjustable spring platforms for our Plus Six Morgans - nothing was too much trouble! Now we have cars with great handling qualities. So get in touch with them directly at SSL.

I have taken a Plus Four round track and agree, the roadholding is great. But for me personally the ride is not; it is too firm and crashes over bumps. Each to his own. For me, this is not a 'sports car', it is a 'gentleman's roadster'.

I think a lot depends on how new the car and particularly damping is. I was lucky enough to test drive a virtually new Plus Four and a several month old demonstrator Plus Six back to back. The wider tyres of Plus Six immediately gave the impression of heavier well planted car although steering was still light, however comparing both over a particularly bad pothole (not difficult to find) the newer Plus Four took it silently whilst the Plus Six crashed a little over same. Could have been the lesser tyre sidewalls contributing of course.

The SSL solution will likely be dual rate coil overs to give softer initial ride together with adjustable damping and maybe improvements to anti-roll on the front at least to compensate. This is where the Classic's sliding axle rebound spring scores providing built in anti-roll.

No, it is impossible to find. The only thing I know is that the last PlusFours can be ordered with a handeling pack, with Nitro dampers and a rear anti-roll bar. But nothing heard of seen about something to be retrofitted.

Back on topic.... dales_plus_four gave a (very)short reply to check the MorganWorks feed. I did and they refer to Plus Line improvements but any link they provided lead nowhere. So none the wiser. You can find Plus Line on the Morgan site but it refers to the new-new Plus Four cars (2024 on I think) and doesn't mention older CX-models. Happy to be corrected.

If anyone else finds anything please share it here smile

I would assume the new redesign Plus Four uses the same "platform" chassis assembly as its earlier model years, so maybe its a case of the new suspension being retro fitted to the older model year as Ruut says??

This is correct. You can't however fit the anti roll bar as the rear subframe is different to accommodate it.

A friend has just had a dealer quote of £3600 to supply and fit the new Nitron suspension (don't know if it includes the anti-roll bar) per the factory option for new P4 cars. Sounds expensive but may be worth it.

Personally, I would want to drive mine then a new one back-to-back on the same test route before making that sort of commitment.

It may be worthwhile if intending to stick with the existing car for a good few years, similarly the Crazy Horse stage 3 tune. Probably better value for money that changing the car and suffering further significant asset depreciation.

So 2990 GBP by Williams, I think (hope) the anti-roll bar is included in that price.......

where did the photo with the offer for the upgrade from Williems come from?

I was told by Dan at Morgan that the ARB could only be fitted to the latest model due to chassis changes. Only the shocks/springs can be upgraded to the Nitrons on the earlier Plus Fours.

That makes it even less attractive. As an option from the factory incl ARB it is around 2000 GBP. So this 3000 GBP is very stiff. It means that the PlusFour from Spencer Bentley (Dales_Plus_Four), who is very positive about his upgrade, also doesn't has the ARB......! Let's ask him. I will post something on Instagram, what is pref his medium!

Good idea Ruut and do let us know his opinion. I still think it would be worth doing even without the ARB - the standard shocks are not the best and the Nitrons could potentially transform the car for those who like to press on. That and a remap would be pretty handy I reckon.

Just read Miscellany and the Williams advert is interesting - 8’ wide wheels feel the arch!!

Just curious:
1) Where will I be able to buy 8’ wide tyres?
2) Is feeling the arch quite legal in 2024?

They also talk of a Plus four ECU reflash but in reality don't have a product yet.

I was wrong, have to say sorry to Spencer, but he did reply on my Insta question yesterday, I couldn't find it. Today he reposted his answer. The antiroll bar cannot be retrofitted. The upgrade consists of the Nitro dampers, other coilsprings and another set-up! It's a stiff price, but can be worth it. They can adjust the ride height, I think I like it! Thinking......... thinking

Here is the answer from Spencer Bentley, copied from Insta, with his permission:

" dales_plus_four 3u • Auteur @rutgertbianchi and they really do make all the difference. I am struggling to covey just how essential this upgrade is if you like driving. It's night and day. The more I drive it the more convinced I am that this is what Morgan wants the car to drive like but was reluctant to factor it into the base price lest people be put off by the higher cost. In my view, the upgrade is essential and in 3 years time selling a used Morgan without the upgrade will be a challenge. As word gets out and people feel the difference no one will buy one used without it, and if they do they'll have to factor in the price of the upgrade. The car both needs and deserves this improved suspension.

dales_plus_four 3u • Auteur @rutgertbianchi feel free to copy and paste my reflection to the TalkMorgan crew if you'd like. If it would help any of them. "

Hi Ruut,

thank you for your information about this upgrade.
What I didn't understand, is the upgrade only available from Williams or can all MMC dealers offer it.

I haven't driven a Plus Four yet. I don't know if the original suspension would be enough for me. However, I have done a lot of fine-tuning so that I really like the suspension of my 4/4. It was rather the other way around with the later 4/4s, which were much too soft and bottomed out. I don't want to compare apples and oranges.
But I am surprised that a relatively expensive car like a Plus Four doesn't get decent suspension from the outset. Sorry, with any other brand, this is seen as a core element of driving pleasure. Of course, there are people who tinker with every car of every brand, but often unnecessarily. Imagine a Porsche or even an MX5 with such unpleasant suspension that the owner has to find an expensive remedy immediately. In my opinion, MMC is saving in the wrong place with the Plus Four when it seems that so many of you are looking for an improvement.

Hi Clemens,

I really don't know, was planning to ask Louwman in Holland, which is my dealer. I assume they all can do it. In Germany I suspect MorganPark should do it, as they are very active in offering several upgrades, more than other dealers.

If it's width, then yes you can fill the arch, you cannot protrude beyond

However we've all seen those pimped 4X4's and builders Ford 'trophy' pickup trucks running naughty widths and never seem to get pulled

I have 26000 km on my plus four . I find the suspension very confortable and enough for a normal driving style . I have to be carefull when passing over a speed bump. I have made a drifting course with an racing pilot as instructor . He doesnt complained about the suspension. I dont think that adding more options will increase the value of the car to be sold or not . The regular customer doesnt look at that.
I had avo rutherford and a sport exhaust on my 4/4 sport . She was sold the same price as without but the cost of the sport exhaust was 2500 euros .A plus four from 2020 could be sold 85000 , 90000 euros in Belgium , a new plus four is 120000 euros . For the price difference you could tune as you like a 2020 plus four and it will be less expensive than buying a new one.

Hi Clemens, Louwman says they do the upgrade, they will give me an offer next week, I'll keep you updated!

There have been some good write ups on the CX owners bulletin board on the MSCC website. It will be interesting to get your views.

Greetings all, I’ve seen a few posts and had some questions from forum members about the upgrade. I shared over on the car club forum and will paste here as well should you be interested in my reflections. My car is a late 22 Plus Four.

I’ll copy and paste some of my reflections from various instagram posts on the new suspension since I got mine.

“First impressions of the new @nitron_suspension on the Plus Four is that it is an essential upgrade for existing Plus Fours and required option if speccing new.

I never minded the old set up and often really liked it, but there was a certain wallow and lack of predictability to it, particularly over the ruts and bumps which make up a large portion British roads.

I’ve not had a real chance to push or play with the new set up as it was bucketing rain the whole 180 miles back from the factory, but over familiar roads around the house, the ones that always make me cringe a bit as I shudder over them, the car felt so planted, composed, and put together. The CX platform is vastly impressive and I suspect it was somewhat underserved by the old set up. No longer.

There is some lovely calibrated body roll in the corners that feels predictable, and measured. Very excited to lean into it a bit more soon.

There is also a tautness without a tightness. They really deliver a more sporting and purposeful feel without any of the harshness one might worry about with a more driver focused set up.

There is also room to calibrate them further, but I think I’ll hold off on that till I’ve got a better sense of how they run up here along the b roads.

Like I mentioned at the top, the difference is significant. I don’t know what the standard set up on the Six I’ve had is, but going from that into the newly set up Four, the Four felt more driver focused. Six is still wildly powerful and planted, but there seems to be an intentionality to the new set up on the Four that just makes it feel more like decisions are being made about how the car will feel as opposed to inherited by the components on hand.

Obviously more to come though as I spend more time with it on some of my familiar and favourite drives up here.”

“ Plus Six vs. Plus Four reflection:

Their are, I’m sure, applications where the Six would be the more desirable car, but I think at the present moment (apply all caveats and in my humble opinions here) the Four is the better drivers car.

The Six impresses with sound and fury. It has a striking and assertive presence. It is a muscle car in fancy British dress.

But the Four has more to offer, more to play with, more to engage you in its drive. The smaller engine means more engine engagement more of the time. The smaller wheels and bigger sidewall mean more play on the road The smaller footprint means there’s more road with which to play. The Four, I think, accomplishes more of what it means to be a Morgan. More of what it means to be a sports car.

Driving the Four today with a little more push I found myself literally saying, “Wow” a number of times. No, it’s not the rocket that the Six is, but then if you want a rocket there are any number of EV’s out there that will launch you at literal rocket speeds. In my view cars are for driving, and right now the Four is the drivers’ car.

Again, that’s not to say there are not applications for the Six, but I’m just not convinced it’s the drivers car that the Four is.

Of course a notable caveat here is that my Four now has the factory installed @nitron_suspension upgrade. Which shouldn’t really be an option for anyone now getting a Morgan. The more time I’ve spent with the new set up the more convinced I am that it should simply be standard. It really needs to be considered an essential upgrade. Excluding the new suspension set up it’s a toss up between the Four and Six I think. But going forward there really shouldn’t be any Fours being specced without this ‘option’.

All that said, mine is not the final word and @morganmotor is always working on the next iteration and development. I suppose at a basic level, whatever Morgan you have or are considering, it should be a comfort and encouragement to all of us that the company is moving convincingly in the right direction. This new suspension upgrade on the Four is a testament to that drive and I for one cannot wait to see what they come out with next!”

“ Further suspension reflections.

Was driving home in the dark from a meeting earlier this week and the roads were empty. It was a lovely drive but I wasn’t pushing it by any stretch.

When you know a car and know a road you have a feel for how the two interact and are usually pretty familiar with what a given speed feels like. I was watching the road and not my speed but was fairly confident based on experience and feel in the car that I was right around or even a bit below the 60mph limit. Well, my eyes happened to slip down at my speedometer and, I’ll be honest, I had to really hit the brakes.

The way the new @nitron_suspension affects the car is staggering. The confidence, body solidity, wheel rebound, and as a result road holding and overall driving feel are so improved I’m going to have to relearn what the cars normal now is.

I kid you not here, as I finished the drive my first thought was something was wrong. I convinced myself that the speedometer must be off as there was no way the new suspension set up could make this much of a difference. I watched my speed the whole way home and genuinely wondered if the car would have to go back to Morgan to have the speedo recalibrated. In the dark without the exterior context cues you’ve got a much clearer sense of the sound and feel of the car for speed.

I drove at the limit or below the rest of the way home and I just couldn’t shake how relaxed and effortless the drive was compared to the shudder and wallow before. With the new dampeners and setup, it’s so seismically improved it really does deliver speed like a different car. A much better car. The car I suspect @morganmotor wants to be making and is making for those specifying this option (which really should not be an option).

I’ve seen a few responses in forums and in comments from people who don’t think the upgrade is necessary. Completely their right to think so, but I suspect they don’t know what they are missing. A car is attached to the ground at four points. Those wheels are attached to the car through the suspension. The suspension that is coming standard was, I am convinced, not designed for or by Morgan. The new one is.”

I have mine booked-in for the Nitron suspension upgrade. The additional power from the tune really highlights the handling as a limitation so I’m hoping this will sort it. Brakes next :-)

Dave I would love to get feedback on how it goes. I planned to upgrade after the ecu upgrade as I felt the wrp4 showed the need.

Making a Malvern mini-break of it from 3-5 Nov with the Memsahib and the hound. Doing a Factory Tour courtesy of Krazy Horse while we are there as well. Will certainly report back.

Just got back from a nice couple of days in Malvern. We did a factory tour, ate far too much in the cafe and spent far too much in the shop LOL!!

[Linked Image]

We drove up from Exeter entirely on A and B-roads, so the occasional bone-shaker experience on some surfaces was fresh in my mind when I picked the car up with the Nitron suspension newly fitted the next day. The difference was immediately obvious even on the 5 minute pootle from Pickersleigh Road back to our hotel in the town to collect our luggage. The drive home was a revelation … finally the car behaves as it really should with the modern bonded aluminium chassis. Highly recommended. It is exactly as @DalesPlusFour described in detail above.

I find it a bit perturbing that the high price of new CX Mogs still need 'upgrading' with better handling packs

Granted it was a bit of a must do with Trads, but CX's, really !

Jon, as I understand SSL, there is only one solution for the PlusSix but not for the PlusFour.

As yet they have not done an upgrade for the Plus Four but I believe it could be on the cards judging by comments on the MSCC CX Forum posts.

I met Dan & Peter last weekend and we chatted about lots of stuff including the highly overpriced Nitron dampers

Lets just say they haven't lots of spare time to update the website, BUT it is definitely worth contacting them as even one-offs can be made

Does a MY23 Plus Six need upgraded suspension, or had MMC learned from feedback and implemented changes by then? I feel I should know, but I don't want to go down a rabbit hole without some basic information. Thanks.

It's a personal thing I would imagine HH and very dependant on your driving style and needs. Some are willing to pay for marginal gains. In most cases though SSL upgrades provide noticeable gains from the instant you set out with new kit, the oft repeated comment being "this is how the car should have handled".

SSL being suspension specialists are quick to identify shortcomings in our cars and offer solutions. Suggest you speak to either Peter or Dan.

Just a happy customer BTW.

I have a 2024 Plus Six and have had the SSL suspension upgrade fitted and it still transforms the car.

I can't make any comment about the CX PlusFour but I am a fan of Peter and Dan's work. It certainly improved my trad Plus Four.

The thing I do find interesting is the number of different comments about the CX PlusFour suspension. It almost seems that there is no consistency to what is fitted at the factory. In my case, in 2012, what was fitted was a mess.
The car suffered from day one from the horrible sagging rear springs. I should not have accepted delivery (I was at the factory) and back in Italy they were eventually changed under warranty for the older 5 leaf springs, but that made the rear very hard. The front springs turned out to be Roadster springs and they too were changed under warranty, but were still not satisfactory.

In the end I got to know Peter Ballard and was a fairly early adopter of the improved front suspension system and, as soon as it was available, the rear 5 link suspension. Within the obvious limits of the trad chassis they both work well.

I would describe the suspension of my PlusFour as good to very good.
I think most owner of a PlusFour ask themselves whether it could be improved a little bit ... and if so the price is worth it.

The car is flat floored by shims. My understanding is mmc don't do this the dealers do at pdi. When Krazy Horse checked mine it hadn't been done and the difference was very noticeable

What is involved in 'flat flooring' - and what is the objective? Is it similar to tracking, but in a vertical plane? thanks

It is 4 wheel tracking & getting the chassis level. KH told me £300 or less depending upon how far off the car is.

I had a brief email exchange with Dan, and plan to drop in to SSL for a chat next time I'm in Chesterfield (we love the Peak District and base ourselves in Chesterfield when visiting). I don't think I will touch the suspension until after the warranty has expired, which is October 2025, but Dan did say when I asked whether it was worth changing on a MY23 Plus Six:

"Whilst some changes have been made, there are some fundamental approaches to suspension set up which have remained the same and which we have addressed.

As our system involves only the suspension units themselves and the drop links, it is not a ridiculously expensive change. And, can be fitted by a competent amateur mechanic.

Retailing at £1720.00+VAT Although we always recommend a dealer does the fit.

Most UK Morgan dealers now have experience.

Please feel free to contact us at any time."

I don't mind tinkering within my competence, but as this is a safety issue, I would always leave this to the experts.

Well, the Nitrons you can certainly not do by yourself. My dealer did need more than a day, complete wheel alignment with camber and caster adjustment. They also installed a Pinnacle fuel cap to replace the fiddly original one, see below!

There seems to be some storage space below the fuel filler cap.

Perhaps that's why the fuel tank capacity on CX's is so low

Fortunately the BMW-engines have a very low fuel consumption, so the range is still acceptable. A view liter more however was a bit more convenient! But coming from a 4/4-seater with the small fuel tank a moderate fuel consumption, the PlusFour means also progress in range.

Re the filler cap. Mine was a b###h to get off and replace. The dealer sorted it by a small filing away of a corner. It's now perfect.
As for the space beneath the filler cap, on my Plus Four you can't get at it. I have the spare wheel and the void beneath it is sealed off with a plastic panel. I had to remove this to access the wiring for the ". Cobra's head "high brake light wiring to mod it for a removable extension to fit onto a case on the rack. It was a tight fit and a fiddle.
In theory an access hatch could be made and that would help access or a tank extension to increase capacity.
The rule of thumb guide is to refuel at about 250 miles as there is still a safety volume in the tank. I've been told 70 miles when the warning light comes on but my guess is that's too close! I've done 290 miles and the gauge ( when steady on level-ish ground) was on empty. No coughs/splutters from the engine. I believe the Plus Six is similar. Long run? Brim the tank. Gauge only starts to drop after about 100 miles then a steady drop.Warning light
It is a bit like being in an EV with range monitoring/anxiety but easier refuelling!.

You're completely right. My consumption is about 1 litre per 17 kilometers. In September recently (made some photographs) I can see I managed 504,2 km with a calculated consumption of 17,567 liters pro km after filling up. (=41,4 mpg) At that point the warningt light is lit for more than 50 km. I mostly refuel somewhere between 400-450 km. Maybe it helps I've an EV too......!

Regarding the space, yes, I have that plastic panel under my spare wheel too. My Morgan is equipped with the "lockable space" in the rear board, just enough for some paperwork, and two safety vests. Not really worth the money...!
So you have to adept, but we are experienced Morgan travellers...!! drive laugh2

I collected the PlusFour with the Nitron upgrade (and the Pinnacle Fuel filler cap) last week. First drive home was mainly over the motorway and some B roads.Yesterday I took her for a spin through the Limburg hills, and yes, I can say something about the effect. Leaving the dealer I instantly noticed a different steering feel. Hard to describe, feels as more direct, but that's literal not possible. So we call it more precise, has something to do with the different setup. On the Motorway the Morgan was more calm, better damped after humps. On the little roads, and I did experience that yesterday when I had even some hairpins on my way, the Morgan feels much better planted, more precise handling and a more balanced, better damped body. I didn't hit any sleeping policeman underway, which was always a challenge before. So, with this relatively short period of experience, I feel very pleased with this new set-up. is it worth the price? That's for anyone to decide. The Morgan certainly wasn't bad before, imagine I came from a 1990 4/4! (which I still have and I can tell the difference, 4/4 with Koni's all-around!). I feel very lucky with it. The bonus is the Pinnacle cap too, which is a piece of art and so easy to use! Should be standard!

I'm pleased for you Ruut that you are happy with the Nitron update. I'm still thinking about taking the same step. However, my dealer has turned me down for this update.
I'm really looking forward to the test drive with your PlusFour in June. If it's positive, I'll find a solution.

Thanks for the great photos👍😎

My dealer told me to change the rear axle support and the arms to mount the stabilizer bar. The price was stratospheric!!

The stabilizer bar is left out in the regular Nitron upgrade, with nevertheless a huge improvement. Indeed, if you should do that the prize becomes enormous. The dampers, settings etc represent already enough money with min 10 hours labor alone for that!

Also thinking about the nitron upgrade for my MY22 PlusFour. Lots of positive comments inc from a Ruut and Spencer, but has any CX owner had the upgrade and thought it wasn’t a success or not a good decision. Any regrets or negatives (other than cost)?

Hi David, yes, just has it done. (without the anti roll bar, as not possible on the '22 model). Ive done about 100 miles since the change. a very much improved set up. mine is on the comfort set up rather than sport (not tried that). most noticeable on rough surfaces, much more comfort. it feels like the tyres a working harder too in soaking up some of the bumps. I felt the back end would dance around if you really pushed it with the original set-up. feels more planted now, but not had the chance to really push on yet. steering is also really nice now, not that it was bad before, lots of communication. its no Rolls Royce for comfort, but its much much better. I suspect over time you'll wonder why you ever changed it as it'll just become part of the norm of the car feel. I think for someone who drives the car a lot (im 22k in 3 yrs) it's worth it. if you're a 1k a year driver then it's expensive. I always suspected the suspension was the weak link, now it's probably the tyres & I quite like the Avons, they let you know when they're about to let go. Anyway, i'm glad I did it. just can't wait for the summer & all those alpine hairpins.

Yes, thanks Chris, and nice to hear from you again. I find the normal ride ok but a bit squashy sometimes and definitely ground out more than I’d like - although I might be putting a bit more weight on the back wheels than the average Morgan driver blush I’m at Williams breakfast on Saturday so may have a discussion with Henry.

A further update on the nitron package. I had a good run out yesterday around the NE Welsh hills. bad surfaces have the rough edges rounded off making it a much less crashy ride. very poor surfaces at low speed, up to 15mph (im talking single lane back roads completely pot hole riden) is still a little crashy. ride improves on rough roads as you speed up & the crashy-ness disappears. a little lean in the fast bends (on standard setting) ..which is nice. you can get into a nice flowing rhythm without the sense of abrupt changes of direction. less kickback thro' the steering wheel on the rough stuff. its now difficult to remember what the old system was like, as with any upgrade, I always think its more noticeable when you go backwards & remove the upgrade. still happy. im looking forward to those lovely roads thro the Black Forest this summer Clemens.

I'm also considering some suspension mods. I've had many Morgans over the years and my current CX Plus Four was the most comfortable I've had, however after 3 years and 16000 miles it has started grounding, something that never happened when new. I'm pretty sure the suspension must have softened and/or lowered. I can see the very rear point of the chassis (left and right sides) has hit the ground, it's quite frightening when it happens unexpectedly on undulating, but otherwise smooth, roads. I'm driving carefully and on rough roads slower than all other traffic, I've noticed even motorcycles look serene over the bumpy roads that leave the Mog joggling uncomfortably. I'm not sure the Nitron package will give me the comfort and ground clearance I want, I think it might be more performance orientated. SSL may have an alternative in the future. Has anyone fitted the Nitron package on a Plus Four themselves? Coilovers are usually quick and easy to change but knowing Morgan there may be complications trying to remove and fit.

Rob, as per my own questions above I have a MY22 a plus Four. Williams fitted Nitrons for me earlier in the year and very pleased. Ride is improved significantly as is car handling. They are supposedly very adjustable from a softness perspective although mine are set in the middle and don’t seem crash or harsh, but assume

I also had them raise the ride height at the back slightly too as I was grounding out with the old shocks too frequently on country roads or sleeping policeman. Has almost removed that issue completely and I am much happier with the ride. Now do not worry about it at all unless it’s an obvious obstacle. I would try and drive a car either way the, on if you can and maybe you can judge for yourself from there.

Hope that helps. David

Exactly the same for me. My PlusFour is a late MY 2022, bought new by me in March 2023 and I did experience the same. Ride much more comfortable and better than my old 4/4 but I did hit the ground often, even when driving very carefully. So I decided to go for the Nitrons in January 2025, I was the first PlusFour owner in The Netherlands where Louwman fitted the upgrade. And it transformed the car, the ride is better, damping firmer, the car is set a bit higher at the rear, I now seldom experience grounding. It comes at a price, but I think it's worth the money and it will certainly solve your problem, apart from all the other benefits!

Late to the party, I know!

I had Nitron’s fitted to my P4 at Williams over a year ago. Set up exactly to my preferences they transformed the ride quality of the car to the extent that even my wife noticed how much better the ride quality was. Testament indeed.

After picking my car up from service in early June the mechanic asked me if I had experienced a squeaking noise from the rear suspension as this had been reported by other owners after Nitron retrofit. I replied negative. However, since then and noticeable since we have been in France (currently still here) a very audible squeaking noise has developed from the rear of the car. Maybe the suspension or could be coincidence, but certainly irritating. So along with the perennial clonking driveshafts and water entry under the bulkhead all is going well! 🙄

Andy, my 2025 P4 has Nitrons and after about 600 miles from new, developed the squeak at front and rear, plus the clonking driveshaft / wire wheels issue, most evident at slow speeds.

I reported these (along with quite a few more issues) at the 1000 mile inspection / service (at Revolutions, Perth). Clonking was solved by wheels removed, splines greased and spinners harder tightened. I forgot to ask how they eliminated the suspension squeak though.

Have since done a further 2500 miles and no squeaks at all, but the clonking has returned !

Spoke to Malvern on the issue of clonking the other day, and basically it's down to the sometimes slight mismatch in engineering tolerances between the splines and wheels.

I also wonder as mine is an auto whether the greater torque compared to the manual and the constant auto up and down shifting adds to the problems......but it seems regular heavy or graphite grease being applied to the rear of the wheels, so it covers the splines as they are put on, maybe part of the maintence schedule. When I enquired as to whether this may lead to wear on the splines/adaptors, it was felt highly unlikely unless the greasing is ignored and or or the spinners overtightened.

I've been thinking about having nitrons fitted, I think I'll wait a while and see how the squeaks issues unravel.

That doesn't sound right or good to me. To quote gomog "if there is ANY looseness, the splines on both the wheels and the hubs wear VERY quickly as they can work against each other."

Yes, with conflicting information (MWS, MMC etc) hard to know whether to tighten a lot more or not too much ! Currently favour the former.

I'm more worried that MMC think poor tolerances leading to slop can be fixed packing the gap with grease

I can't or wont at this time change the parts fitted to my car, but this is a well known problem at Malvern and it still occurs with the latest build cars, where I would have thought by now better machined tolerances would have been put in place to correct this issue. I wonder how many cars are supplied with wires as opposed to alloys and whether they consider it material enough to change component specifications the grand scheme of things.

The packing with graphite grease offers a very short window before the clonking returns. I took my rear wheels off a week ago last Thursday and repacked both. Both substantially retightened. I drove approximately 300 miles before the clonking returned.

One comment I would make is that the return of the dreaded clonk is noticeably accelerated by hot weather. In other words, the grease is thinning due to temperature. If. Graphite based grease is used, per MMC customer services then it needs to be one capable of operating under high temperature. Having just returned from France and driven circa 700 miles since the last grease application I am faced yet gain with having to repeat regreasing, which is frankly utterly ridiculous. In the past when I challenged MMC CS about this they told me, and I quote, ‘It’s a feature of wire wheels’! No, it’s a feature of a poorly engineered and manufactured splining system.

Quite honestly, I now think the only solution is to convert to bolted wheels, with the substantial expense that involves. A terrible indictment of yet another poor andlow quality offering from MMC.

Andy,
I would agree grease is not the solution for poor tolerances. I drove car with wires for what 26 years or so and never had to do what you are doing. That included 3 morgans, a triumph & an MG.

Any competent engineer will tell you grease is not a substitute for poor tolerances. If, as you all seem to be saying this is a recurring issue may I suggest a strong letter to the factory signed by all affected. It is not reasonable to have purchased a product not fit for purpose.
I have a 1990 +4/4 with wire wheels and have never had issues, I also have a 2021 plus four, with alloys.

is it only the wirewheels that cause the clonking noise?

Yes only wires. The holes on the adapter plate are bigger than the bolts leading to slop. Mmc should really pay this. I seem to remember they did at the time under warranty. Maybe someone on here can comment

I thought it was the actual splines mismatched in fitting tolerance ? Hence the bung the gap with grease temporary cure ?

If it's just the bolt holes oversized then they can be bored and sleeved quite easily by a proper engineering co

Anyone got a pic of the adaptor plate / drive thingy

Maybe I'm wrong John but that is how I understood it for pre my22 cx cars. Maybe slop on the hub causes excessive spline wear

Two separate issues, both known about. The issue I mention is, I suspect, excessive clearance between the splines of the hubs and the output shafts. MMC solution is to pack with graphite grease (shaft only) however, this quickly proves to be a temporary solution as I can testify, regular attention is required.

Interestingly, I have undertaken quite a bit of research since originally raising this issue. It seems that vintage and classic racers use high temperature molybdenum infused grease on splined shafts / hubs. It is considered a better solution for heavy loads and higher temperatures. I sourced such a grease and spoke to the technical department of the manufacturer. Indeed they conclude that for the problem I have experienced a
molybdenum based grease is a better solution. I procured some and removed the rear wheels (fourth time this season) and treated hubs and drive shafts with it. I will be undertaking a 250 mile trip next week and will report back. One thing I did notice on wheel removal and inspection (grease manufacturer instructed me to thoroughly clean all traces of graphite grease off hub and shaft prior to application of new grease) was evidence of galling between the back of the shaft and the outer radius of the hub. This suggests to me that a thin of grease is required between the two surfaces, which they now have.

Forgive me for joining in but.....

ANY looseness on the hub must damage splines, wheels and hubs. In the happiest of worlds, both should be replaced.

The cures are, rated by desirability are, IMHO,

1. new hubs and wheels without such looseness

2. CooperMan's solution above. But then what is the current condition of the splines, wheel and hubs, on the car?

3. Loctite makes a product for such issues. It is called Loctite 660, a cream that fills in gaps, specifically made for lose round holes and parts. The Jaguar and other communities speak well of it..but a precise method of how to use it is needed. I am sure Loctite will oblige.

4. We forget that this company has new Management since 2019. That ended the Pickersleigh "hard times" from 2003 to 2019. It was bought over by a multi-billionaire Londoner who very honourably stepped up and pumped in 3 shocked2 times his entire purchase price to cover Plus Four and Plus Six design/component issues made by the former owners he bought from. Why not politely approach him? Gentlemen can still surprise.

Having read the data sheet on Loctite 660 there is no way I would use it on a splined drive shaft. I suspect it would be extremely difficult to remove the wheel once it had fully set.

I occasionally use Loctite 660 (as a stopgap) on stripped wheel bearing seats on motorbikes.

Important!
The Loctite instructions state:

Disassembly: As this is a high-strength bond, disassembly is usually only possible later by applying targeted heat (to approx. 250°C).

I would have thought the adaptor plates would use taper seats. Oversize holes don't matter then. I often get called out with my Land Rover at tyre shops when one or other guy tells me I've fitted wheel nuts the wrong way around. I say nothing and just grin until they realise nuts are double taper innocent

Yes. That was my original worry. But it is not being used on the splines of course. Then same data sheets and the classic Jaguar Community convinced me I was wrong. Loctite makes nothing that comes to mind that is irreversible. And logically speaking, how many times does one remove a splined shaft?!!! Even with my mileage on my two splined hubbed Morgans, I have never done so!

And I believe you both did not examine the release temperature of this stuff. IT IS 250C. After all, we all use Loctite in some format or should. You gentlemen did not check out the release temperatures for the most common Loctites and compare them with this treatment? Two of the most common Loctites have a HIGHER release point. The people at Loctite are not nuts (PUN!!!)[/b] laugh2

LOCTITE RED = 260C
LOCTITE GREEN = 260C
[LOCTITE BLUE = 160C

Lastly, as I suggested, it is something the MMC can check out far easier than an owners' forum can. Many of us are aware that the current owners of the MMC desert rally race 1979/80 Plus 8s. Their very capable race preparer can check this option easily. (Drying is 15-20 minutes and full cure time is 24 hours.) Great PR for them. I wouldn't pass it up. though there is often a priority difference between owners and current Management.

L.

P.S. Added later. That being said, it is why I listed cures in an order of preference. The biggest concern from a point of view of cost, would be whether the splines have been prejudiced and if so, whether that is to an non-repairable extent.,

I was in MMC yesterday raking the car for a job. I asked about the rear "clunk". They use a heavy duty grease". ". I put graphile on when replacing the wheels. The tip they gave was put sone on the inner end of the wheel hub so it gets pushed inwards as the wheel slides on. I do that anyway, plus a small amount on the leading edge of the splines on the hub. I'll delve more on Friday when picking the car up. I'll ask which brand grease they use. I might be cheeky and take a small tub to get a "sample"!
There quite a few Supersports going through production. Looks like sales are decent.

Went to Lifes today and followed Morgans instuctions re greasing the splines with a graphite grease, in fact we applied a very high temp resistant grease which is used on wind turbines and designed for and very capable of dealing with a salty marine envionment. The wheel spinners were really tight (much tighter than Matt would normally tighten upto),. what we found was plenty of grease already packed on the splines, the adaptor plate nuts were tight,. There was no noticeable wear on the splines or the inside of the wheels. So he was a little head scrathing as to Morgan's suggested packing grease in that area recommendation, as on my car that wasn't an apparent and obvious issue.

Matt then checked the diff and he felt there was more tolerance/ some play there, enought to cause a slight clunk, which is most likely what I'm hearing. The only solution he thought that might help would be a much heavier diff oil, which I will talk to Morgan about.

Great drive there and back, the Morgan really handles well and can get a move on when necessary, far too easy to get a little carried away and still doing high 40 mpg...............one of the best Morgan drives I've had in years.

John, Roadsters have a friction modifier in their diff oil to partly stop clunks in the LSD. I know I changed mine every 25k as the oil seemed to get tired. It could also be oil level I guess. I don't think the CX has an LSD but have no idea of the oil needed.

Maybe it is also the UJs?

Could well be the UJ's, Matt was very busy, so we didn't have too much time to investigate beyond the greasing of the splines, I'll get it checked out in October when the car is back in Malvern for a service. But certainly on my car it wasn't an issue with the wheel splines or adaptor plate. (so far anyway)

Interestingly, he had replaced a set of early CX brake calipers all round, as they were thought to be inefficient and struggling, with a later design set, just a slight difference in the hydraulic hose connection was necessary. Just over £1500 for the parts and then labour on top, apparently much better feel all round. I must admit I do find the current brake feel a little dead on the pedal, they bite ok but no real feel as to what is happening eg close to locking up. They certainly felt better after the brake fuild change in December, but don't inspire real confidence, they stop you, but thats about it. May need to start to save my pennies up.

Done a little more research and AI came up with these potential areas for further investigation. I based the search on my car being a 2022 car, but equally applies to other years.

On the 2022 Morgan Plus 4 (CX-generation), isolating a drivetrain clonk with physical slop points to three highly probable areas: the main input flange/pinion nut, the differential mounting bushings, or—a classic Morgan quirk—the wheel hub splines themselves.
Because your car utilizes a BMW modern powertrain (B48 engine paired with a ZF 8-speed auto or 6-speed manual) housed insideMorgan's bonded aluminum chassis, you can narrow down the issue by checking these components in order
A worn propeller shaft universal joint (UJ) or excessive backlash in the BMW-sourced rear differential is causing the clonking and drivetrain slop in your 2022 Morgan Plus 4. Because the CX-generation platform uses a modern aluminum chassis and tightly packaged drivetrain, diagnosing and fixing this requires a specific approach.

Diagnostic Steps

Next Steps for Diagnostic Check

To narrow it down before turning a wrench: Jack up the rear end safely and secure it on stands. Grab one rear tire and rotate it back and forth. If the wheel moves a fraction of an inch but the brake rotor/hub does not move, it is a spline/wheel clamping issue. If the hub rotates but you hear a distinct click coming from the exact front face of the differential where the driveshaft enters, it is the BMW input pinion loose/backlash issue. Are you running wire wheels or alloy wheels on your Plus 4? If you can confirm whether the clonk happens exactly when letting the clutch out/putting the auto into gear, or if it happens over bumps, will tell you exactly which bolt or spline to target first.

Isolate the UJs:

Raise the car safely on a drive-on ramp or lift so the suspension is under normal load. Grab the propeller shaft and twist it firmly back and forth while watching the universal joints. Any visible movement or "slop" within the joint cups confirms a failed UJ.Check the Differential Backlash: Hold the input flange of the rear differential still and try to rotate the rear wheels. A tiny amount of play is normal, but excessive rotational free-play accompanied by a sharp metallic click means the internal gear backlash needs adjustment or rebuilding.Inspect the Center Support Bearing: Check the rubber housing around the driveshaft center support bearing (if equipped) for tears or degradation, which can also mimic a bad UJ clonk.

More detailed areas to investigate.

Morgan's bonded aluminum chassis, you can narrow down the issue by checking these components in order:

1. The BMW Differential Pinion Flange NutModern BMW-sourced differentials are highly susceptible to a specific "input clonk".The Issue: The large nut securing the input flange (where the propeller shaft mates to the front of the differential) can slightly back off or lose its factory preload. This introduces tiny amounts of back-and-forth rotational slop before the gears actually mesh, resulting in a sharp metallic "clonk" every time you accelerate or decelerate.

The Fix:
The propeller shaft must be unbolted from the diff flange. The central pinion nut must be checked, treated with high-strength thread locker (like Loctite 648), and torqued back to precise factory specification to restore internal preload.

2. Differential Mounting Bushings & BoltsThe CX-platform places immense torque load on the mounts holding the differential casing to the aluminum chassis frame.
The Issue:
If the front or rear differential mounting bolts back off even slightly, or if the rubber isolation bushings wear down, the entire differential casing will physically twist under load. This causing a heavy thud or "clonking" sound directly under the rear package shelf.

The Fix:

Safely raise the car and check all main differential mounting bolts. Use a pry bar to check for excessive vertical deflection in the rubber mounts.

3. Wire Wheel Splines (The False Differential Clonk)If your Plus 4 is fitted with traditional wire wheels, a notorious Morgan characteristic is for dry splines to perfectly mimic a failing differential or propeller shaft.
The Issue:
If the wheel splines or the conical contact taper at the back of the hub are dry or insufficiently tightened, the wheel will microscopically slip on the hub when you pull away or brake. The sound telegraphs straight down the half-shafts, making it sound identical to a broken differential.

The Fix
:
Remove the rear wheels completely. Scrupulously clean away old grit from the hub and wheel splines. Apply a generous layer of high-quality graphite or copper grease to the splines and the conical seating taper, reinstall, and tighten the spinners firmly using a proper dead-blow mallet. Many owners discover this entirely cures their drivetrain clonk.

It seems more sensible than MSCC. If you clean the splines watch out they can be very sharp so wear gloves.

Matt went over the splines carefully with his fingers, he could see no wear, or slant or edge to the splines indicating wear, The reason I took it to Mat is he deals with these things on a daily basis. He did note that with the taper on the spline, the wheels need to be pushed on quite tight or you would feel some movement.

I read your posts with interest, John.

I have experienced this issue from very early on in the ownership of my 2022 P4. Although the issues related to clonking in my case relate to the splined output shafts and wheel hubs (or so I was told), I am suspicious now, having read your detailed post, that there is much more going on.

Having undertaken research into the right grease (high temperature molybdenum infused grease) for the splined shaft/hub, which certainly seems to have quietened down the immediate clonking, there is no doubt that accelerating and decelerating at modest urban driving speeds, the drive and transmission are best described as 'jerky'. It is far from smooth and requires gentle throttle application to avoid excessive jerkiness and an in cabin audible clonk.

My big question related to all this though is why this isn't being picked up when the cars are serviced? I have mentioned it every time my car has gone in and been informed it was down to the splines of the wire wheels / shafts. I suspect now that this isn't the real root cause, a contributory factor yes, but the whole story, no.

Finally, and back to the original question raised in this post. I have experienced a seriously bad squeaking noise from the suspension struts. This has manifested since having Nitron's fitted, which hugely improve handling and ride quality. My suspicion was that the bearing surfaces between the bolts and suspension bushes were running dry. This has now been confirmed and is being widely reported by cars with Nitron retrofit. It seems that the bolts and bushes require re-greasing when the car is serviced. Just something to bear in mind if considering Nitron's. Inconvenient yes, but still worth it.

I tend to get a clonk when braking coming upto a junction as the gearbox is changing down thru the gears, less so when accelerating. My car is quite smooth in congested traffic, however you are aware with an 8 speed autobox, at lower speeds the box is changing up and down quite often as it tries to find the right gear for the current speed, you usually detect the change in engine note. It's certainly not as smooth or as seemless as say in my Mercedes fitted with 7 or 9 speed autoboxes

When I get a chance over winter. I'll get Matt at Life's to go thru the identified areas and see what that reveals.........I'll mention all the areas of potential concern when it's in for a service at Malvern in October and see what they say.

I've donw somef urther investigation and AI is suggesting the following explanations and potential fix regarding the types of clunk I hear

Slowing down to a junction or switching from forward to reverse isolates the problem specifically to drivetrain torque reversal. When you lift off the accelerator to coast toward a junction, the load on the drivetrain flips from engine pulling the wheels to wheels braking against the engine (overrun). Shifting from forward to reverse reverses this load direction entirely. The single "clonk" or thud you are experiencing during these exact transitions is caused by three specific mechanical culprits:

1. BMW Input Flange Spline Backlash

The most prevalent cause for a directional change clonk is micro-movement in the splines linking the driveshaft to the differential input flange.

The Mechanism:

Over time, factory adhesive on the mating splines can break free. When you reverse direction or transition to deceleration, the input shaft physically rotates a fraction of a millimetre before locking into the opposite side of the spline teeth, echoing a sharp metallic clonk.

The Fix:

BMW has a specific Service Information Bulletin (SIB) for this shared architecture. A mechanic must drop the driveshaft, clean the splines, apply a high-strength thread locker (like Loctite 648), and re-torque the pinion assembly.

2. Differential Backlash (Internal Gear Slack)Every differential requires a minute amount of mechanical clearance—known as gear backlash—between the crown wheel and the pinion gear so the assembly doesn't seize when hot.

The Mechanism:

In a conventional insulated passenger car, you would never hear this play. However, because the Morgan Plus Four features an open cockpit sat directly on top of a rigid, uninsulated aluminum chassis, that tiny physical gap acts like a tuning fork. When the load direction swaps at a junction, the gears slam across that tiny gap, amplifying the clonk.

3. Front Differential Bushing DeflectionThe front mounting bolt takes the brunt of the rotational twisting force whenever torque shifts direction.

The Mechanism:
If the front rubber or polyurethane isolation bushing has slightly elongated, or if the mounting bolt has backed off even a fraction of a millimetre, the entire nose of the BMW differential housing will physically twist up or down during load transitions. When you hit reverse or coast down, the differential nose snaps violently back down against the chassis subframe.⚠️

The Non-Differential Alternative:
Dry Wheel SplinesBefore paying for drivetrain diagnostics, eliminate a classic Morgan quirk: dry center-lock wire-wheel splines. If your Plus Four has wire wheels, a lack of heavy grease between the wheel hub and the car's drive splines will cause the wheel to shift back and forth slightly under braking or reversing, perfectly mimicking a differential clonk.Quick Check: Remove the wheels, scrupulously clean off old residue, pack the splines and the internal conical seating area with high-quality graphite or copper grease, and torque the spinners down tightly with a dead-blow mallet. To help narrow down the next step, let me know:Does your car have wire wheels or alloy wheels?

Is it a 6-speed manual or the 8-speed automatic transmission?I can guide you on how to check the front mounting bolt or point you toward a local specialist.

Knowing the car has the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission narrows the focus directly down to the specific way this automated drivetrain behaves.Because an automatic transmission maintains a much more direct, pressurized connection between the engine and the rear wheels than a manual clutch, the mechanical forces are magnified during certain shifts.

The Core Cause:

Torque Loading and Internal "Backlash"The "clonk" when moving from Forward to Reverse (or vice versa), and when coasting down to a junction, is almost always down to mechanical backlash (free play) within the drivetrain. In a standard modern BMW, this tiny amount of play is masked by thick rubber subframe bushings and hundreds of pounds of acoustic insulation.

In the lightweight, uninsulated aluminum CX-chassis of your Morgan Plus Four, that same play is perfectly amplified straight into the cockpit. Here is how the automatic transmission interacts with the BMW differential to cause this:

The Forward-to-Reverse Clonk:

When you shift the ZF 8-speed from D to R, the internal transmission clutches instantly change the direction of the fluid pressure and mechanical rotation. This snaps the driveshaft from one edge of the gear teeth in the differential over to the completely opposite edge. The "clonk" you hear is the physical gap (backlash) closing instantly under hydraulic gear engagement.

The Junction Slow-Down Clonk:

As you brake or coast to a halt, the automatic transmission downshifts through its lower gears (usually 3rd to 2nd, and 2nd to 1st). During these slow downshifts, the car rapidly transitions from "overrun" (the wheels spinning the engine) to "drive" (the engine pulling the car). The sudden change in load causes the internal gears of the open BMW differential to slap across that tiny built-in clearance window.

How to Check the Assembly

Inspect the Front Differential Pinion Bolt: The torque specs on the automatic version are actually higher than the manual. Have a mechanic check that the main mounting bolt and the diff pinion nut haven't slightly backed off from factory settings. If it has any play, the differential housing will rock when shifting between D and R.

Apply the BMW Spline Fix:

If the mounting hardware is perfectly tight, the clonk is coming from the splines connecting the driveshaft to the differential input flange.

The fix requires applying a high-strength retaining compound (like Loctite 648) to the splines to eliminate the minute rotation gap.

A Quick Driving Habit Check

Because you are driving an automatic, try pulling the handbrake tightly before shifting out of Drive or Reverse on an incline. If the car rolls even a few millimetres against the internal transmission park pawl or gear sets, it pre-loads the differential. Shifting it out of that pre-load will cause a loud, alarming snap.To rule out the easiest external factor, do you happen to know if your Plus Four is fitted with wire wheels or alloy wheels? (Wire-wheel splines are notoriously famous for shifting and clonking in exactly this way).

If this is the reason for the thud here is the BMW Sevice Repair bulletin SIB 26 01 18 search on line for it and it shows a video and has pictures

DRIVELINE CLICKING/KNOCKING NOISE ON LOAD REVERSAL

This Service Information bulletin replaces SI B26 01 18 dated August 2018

What’s New:

• More models added

Model
F90 (M5 Sedan)
F80 (M3)
F82, F83 (M4)
F87 (M2)
Situation

A clicking noise is noticed from the area of the rear axle differential, either when:
Transitioning from driving forward to backing up

During load reversal while driving (i.e., engine load to overrun, etc.)
Refer to video attached to this bulletin.

Cause

A slight amount of movement can exist between the mating surfaces of the propeller shaft (aka driveshaft) coupler
notches and the matching splines on the rear differential.

Correction

Apply sealant to the driveshaft/rear differential connection. The sealant will harden and prevent the relative movement
between splines of the two components.
Procedure
Reproduce the noise during a brief road test while the drivetrain is at operating temperature.

Hint:

Select the Sport display in the Central Information Display using the path My Vehicle- Technology in Action- Sport
Displays. If needed, set the units to pound-feet (lb-ft) using the path My Vehicle- iDrive settings- Units- Torque.
The noise occurs at an engine torque between 37 and 73 lb-ft.

With the vehicle stationary, select transmission gear “R” and accelerate slightly with the brake pedal depressed. The noise should now occur once.
Then select “D” and accelerate slightly against the brake. The noise should now occur again.

Apply Loctite 648 sealant (or equivalent) to the connection between the driveshaft and the rear axle. Refer
Repair Instruction 26 11 000 “Completely Removing and Installing the Propeller Shaft”.
Note:
The updated repair instruction is available with ISTA 4.12.3x, as of late July 2018

The driveshaft does not need to be removed from the vehicle, only the rear joint

Apply Loctite 648 (BMW part number 07 58 9067 732) evenly all around the inside
circumference in a bead shape.
Start approx. 10 mm back from the outer edge (1)
The bead depth (2) needs to be approx. 10 mm, and
5mm thick
Note:
The driveshaft (3) must be connected to the
output flange within 12 minutes.
Copyright ©2022 BMW of North America, Inc.

After installing the driveshaft and tightening the recessed nut, allow a minimum sealant hardening time of three hours

Do not move the vehicle during this time period!

Well MMC checked out my diff and still maintain its the machining tolerance difference between the hub splines and wires, however I noted on the test drive of a new Plus Four automatic fitted with alloys, there was a slight diff clunk when I first moved off, so I'm still a little unconvinced, may need to explore this further especially in the light of the BMW service bullitin.........need to start to just enjoy the car for what it is,warts and all. and consider fitting some noise deadening suppression inside the car to reduce the clonk impact in the cockpit.

I was just trying to think, how many cars in the current BMW model range have wire wheels....................................................🤷🏻‍♂️😁🙃

Has anyone said 'they all do that sir' yet.....????????
I've had auto BMW's for donkeys years and never had a 'clonk'......(kiss of death)......!

Yes to grease on the splines, but surely not to take up any machining tolerance difference...... that sounds like total BS......🤦🏻‍♂️.......!!!

Looks like another expensive recall for MMC....... they're getting pretty used to them by now so it should go smoothly........

The 'drive it like you stole it' option is probably the way to go....😂

Julian, your BMW thick sound insulaion probabily masks it, the CX tub just amplifies any noise generated..........so even a little insulation rather than none may help.........but it's get it used, all these fiobles are just a reminder it's a Morgan, Haven't used it much this week been too busy, but last week in the mid 30's temps it performed brillantly whilst we were away in Durham the later part of last week. In the 1000 miles we did once ouside of Malvern we didn't see a single Morgan on the roads..........must have been too hot for the trads evilor come to that any CX or they were all at the recent gathering of the clans in Malvern Showground and the Midlands. But very unusual........not seeing another Morgan in our travels.

Unfortunately according to Sue I only suffer from selective deafness, in that I only hear what I want to hear.

Don't get me started on selective deafness. MrsW constantly talks to me from other rooms, and from upstairs, and gets shitty when I can't hear her.

She will also ask me to do 'something' tomorrow, and when I tell her to tell me again tomorrow, because i won't remember, she gets shitty.

A friend uses headphones when he watches Yoiu Tube so his wifes irritating voice can't cut through

Happy days
