Excellent point. Anyone know where the video was filmed ? Palm trees, lakes, and mountains, suggest to me it was filmed in the Ticino in southern Switzerland over several days.

Possibly Ticino but your mention of it reminds me of dropping down into the canton from the Gotthard tunnel on business trips to Italy. The scenery just got better and better as the lakes appeared with mountain backdrops.

One part in any case in France Other Tread

So what we all want to know is: what did the video cost ? And the profit on how many future CX sales did it gobble-up ? My guess is that MMC budgeted £100K. I had some involvement in that genre in the mid-2000’s (so these price ideas are probably fairly out of date). Here are my guesstimates, based on a one-week duration including getting there and back (let’s say it’s [mainly] France), and 3 days for the shoot:

Transportering the cars (you surely don’t think they drove there do you), with ferries and fuel = say £6,000
MMC mechanic / car valeter = say £3,000
3 models/actors, and a spare all @ £1,000 a day each for 3 days = say £12,000
Flying various bods to France and back = say £3,000
Film crew (possibly local) = say £10,000
Wardrobe (clothes), plus makeup = say £4,000
Leica hire = say £1,000
Director, sound person, art director/stylist (of course) = say £10,000
Location scouts / local fixers = say £4,000
2 drone operators + kit throughout the shoot = say £6,000
Helicopter rental for 1 day with steady-cam = say £5,000
Accommodation and food for the entire team as required = say £10,000
Location hire (e.g. trendy water-side restaurant) = say £1,000
Insurance (cars, people, kit) = £10,000 (I’m guessing)
Post-production (editing, sound and colour balance, ghastly vertical triple-screen-split etc) = say £4,000
Depreciation of the LHD Plus Four and RHD Plus Six = unknown but say = £16,000
Contingency = say £5,000

Well that’s already over (my) budget at £110K, but who am I to know ?

Really? Personally I don't give two hoots. I liked the video for what it was, a piece of stylish marketing smile smile

It looks like MMC have reverted to the Cobra Head high level brake light on the 5 wheel Plus Four. Some may see that as a retrograde step

Homologation for a number of markets I would imagine smile

Great insight on the photoshoot Peter.

I have seen the videos on the Aero from Alex Goy and Chris Harris in the past which are more traditional car review style, would they have been paid/commissioned by comparison?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

From a styling point of view a positive IMHO. The strip lights always reminded me of the tacky things you buy on eBay. Ditto reversing and rear fog lights.

Just been in at Morgan Works London to see the new 2023 Plus Six.

I hadn’t been sure what to make of the new dash, but one of the other attendees nailed it when he called it ‘art deco’. I think that’s just right. Where my 2022 has a real vintage quality to it, the design and finish on the 2023 feels very retro and very cool. I think mine is a better fit for the Dales, but this new interior will be wildly popular.

There are a few other points of difference Morgan followers will be interested in. The seats are using a different foam and it’s very very comfortable. The 2022 is great, but this feels like a memory foam mattress. The fabric finish on some of the door panel and the seat centres is great. Perhaps not traditional Morgan, but again, very retro and will look brilliant in a tweed! The glove box and door bolt-action “handles” are very well executed. Lovely to the touch and very satisfying report in use. The underside of the dash is trimmed in leather which makes a surprisingly big difference to the finish of the interior. Similarity the fit and finish of the fabric and leather around the door and dash is astonishingly good. Finally the speakers. The speakers are astounding. I’m still not sure how much this matters on a Morgan, but if it matters to you, you’ll be mighty impressed.
