The values of a 3.7 liter Roadster engine and a 2.0 liter PlusFour look like this:

________Roadster________PlusFour

Power:_____284 hp_________258 hp
Torque:____352 Nm_________400 Nm
0-100 km/h:__5,5 sec________4,8 sec
Top speed:__225 km/h_______240 Km/h

I admit that the emotion of having a six cylinder under the hood is greater. But the values alone speak for the PlusFour

Just saw "Troubleshooter" on youtube again. And I really had a laugh! They now do all these things, Mr. (can´t remember his name) wanted them to do in the 80´s. And Peter and Charles were sure at that time, that this is the absolut wrong way for their kind of customers. But hey! No problem for a investment fund today!!! Just take new customers with more money to spend and give the old ones a kick.
And I think, it will work! Selling cars to Asia and North America will be no problem with these prices and the european market (incl. GB) becomes an unnecessary appendage. That´s bussiness! But is it Morgan? From an economic point of view, I understand every step they take. But do I have to like it?

I just configurated a MY 23 (4 cyl., 2l, 250 PS) plus four and a 718 Porsche Spyder (6 cyl, 4.0l, 420 PS). Porsche was 108´ and the Mog was 112´. For me they now absolutley overdid it with their pricing policy. The accesories prices are downright ridiculous in most cases imo.

Peter wouldn't be very amused, I suppose.

As a former TVR owner (for over 40 years), I well recall that in the early-2000's, TVR decamped production to Malaysia (Yong Yoon Li and his team at TVR Sports Malaysia https://fbnasia.org/en/yong-yoon-li/). Thin end of the wedge for the brand I'm afraid.

A Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder is a viable competitor for a Plus Four, in many ways.
I have a 2016 Boxster S and a 2014 Plus 8. They are both wonderful, but if I could only have one the Mog would go.

The Boxster is wearing better than the Morgan...

I've always had the feeling that MMC maybe were left with no option but to 'compromise' and put a trad style body on the new CX platform to hang on to some customers.
You'd think that if you were going to bin (price out) most of your old/loyal customer base and you'd just spent millions of Lira on a new chassis, suspension and powertrain, and you had a new design department, you'd go the whole hog and put a new body on it.....
Even if it was along the lines of the 'life car', which I could have been tempted to sell a kidney to own it was so beautiful, it might have allowed the company to develop into the next 100 years....

£100k+ for a normal Morgan just seems to be too much money when you're faced with the others at that level.
A 911 can be specced for <£100k.
You'd have to be clinically insane to sacrifice build quality, handling, performance, practicality, useability, safety, worldwide dealer network.......etc etc, and head to Malvern with your money.

A huge percentage of the old cars are still on the road because of the simple construction. The new aluminium cars can't survive any form of accidental damage and are proving to be written off at the same rate as all modern aluminium cars. They can't be economically rebuilt. They just won't be around long term. They are properly modern..i.e short term...which may well be a good thing, I'm not putting a value judgement on this.

Here's one that looks to have very light damage, but has been written off

MMC have “been there and done that” with the 4 plus4, and see what happened!
I have long been convinced that the main thing that sells a Morgan is that iconic shape. Otherwise, few would put up with the idiosyncrasies that Morgans generally deliver. All those people in the street who wave at you have no idea whether it’s a CX or trad, whether it’s got a Sigma engine or a GDI and they care not a jot…they see a “Morgan”, and the babes in arms probably see Mr Toad!
IMO, if Morgan dare depart in a major way from that classic shape and style, then they will be facing real competition from the high end sports car market and sadly will struggle to keep up.

I have owned 13 new Porsches (incl 3 Boxsters) and 2 Morgans. Yes, the Porsche is far better built and more user friendly. Sadly, my new Plus Four build quality is poor and is definately not practical as an everyday car (though some do). But strangely, when I sold my last 'toy' I looked at all the 2-seat Roadsters and decided on the Morgan. No, I am not potty and I accept that I could have purchased a base 911 for what my Plus Four cost. But I still do not regret my purchase. Morgans are special, Porsche/BMW/Mazda/Toyota are not
