This relates to cars with an aluminium fuse box and cover located immediately in front of the bulkhead on the offside.

Having recently suffered a blown wiper fuse while the car was in the garage and about to depart early morning in the dark and rain, I thought about improving fuse identification, as it was not immediately apparent which fuse protected the wipers.

The information displayed on the outside of the fuse box cover is not exactly helpful. For a start, the block identifications are wrong as the block labelled A is actually B and vice versa. Identifying the individual fuse numbers is interesting as well.

My solution was to replicate the actual fuse location/identification and create a label using a Word file on the laptop. This was printed out, trimmed to a useable size and then laminated to seal in the paper. Velcro strip was then glued to the underside of the fuse box cover and the reverse side of the laminated pouch. If required the laminated fuse information may be peeled off but I suspect I shall leave it attached as per photo.

What else do we have on board apart from spare fuses? Spare relays - parked next to the live repays, a pair of plastic business card holders containing a torch, screwdriver, Allen keys, foldable mirror, cable ties, insulating tape, cuddly toy etc etc - the lids secured with re-useable cable ties. Oh and a piece of rag to wipe the bits with...

Roadster 3.7's are also wrongly labelled, I did my own colour coded laminated sheets

I'm generally happy with the MMC fuse labelling, accepting they list engine fuse bank above body bank although correct in the pictorial layout

What I must do though is update fuse amperage in the lighting group. I reduced many to match the lower current draw of the full LED conversions I made. Also had to increase the horn fuse when I fitted relay driven twin air horn.

Yes very neat both. I have found my starter relay has a fun quirk of working loose, even with a new relay. I carry spare fuses & relays in a small box in the box. Other bits lurk in s Librands footwell box.

Chris, mention of your wiper fuse blowing has me thinking it may be caused by a stiffer than normal linkage and so motor drawing more current, initially at least. I know John V6 took the cover off his recently and found a parcity of grease in there. Might be worth a check and a reminder for me to practice what I preach

Had to do that with mine as the 'draw' had blown my smartscreen device. Stripped the cover/cogs, cleaned and regreased and did the same with the cable and the wheel boxes. Much better action now, and the new smartscreen is safe!

Good thought Richard. Also if the arms take the blades too far onto the chrome it can cause it.

It had been some months since the wipers were last used. Replaced the fuse and went for a test drive with wash/wipe on several times without issue. Next job is to check out both grease and blade clearance 👍

The gear box on my motor was really dry Chris. The dry grease was very strange almost like putty.
