My current project is a rehab of the entire fuel system in my '67 +4, from the fitting at the top of the tank to the tip of the tailpipe, exclusive of the head. In other words, I am doing the following:
[*]Replacing all of the fuel lines
Adding an electric fuel pump
Adding a filter/pressure regulator
Adding a fuel pressure gauge
Converting from twin SUs to twin DCOE Webers
Restoring the factory header
Replacing the exhaust system
Today's bodge was to replace all of the manifold studs in the head. Five of the eight were bent, and I need shorter studs for the new (to me, anyway) Derrington intake manifolds. I also had to sort out how to attach the manifolds, as the stock clamps would never fit the Derrington units. I wound up cutting some 3/16" flat stock to a rough shape and used the pieces as substitute clamps. I still had to grind away part of the aluminum intake runners to get enough clearance to be able to tighten the nuts onto the studs. The ersatz clamps are still pretty rough, but I expect I'll clean them up once I have everything mocked up and confirmed to fit properly. I got one manifold fit today. The other will get done tomorrow. Once they both pass the dry fit test, everything comes back off until the header returns from its spa day.
New fuel lines are scheduled to arrive this weekend, so I'll start that bit of the list when it does. I fabricated a bracket for the pump and filter/regulator, but I'm not sure I'll wind up using it. I'll figure it out once I start digging into the back end of the car. My original intent was to have a splendiferous display of AN fittings and braided hose, but I think I'd rather keep it simple and economical.
