Bumpy rides are quite beneficial for those of us with cellulite bottom contours - Of course I am not describing anyone's bottom in particular - But ladies are generally very eager to rid themselves of this less attractive bodily feature pantsdown Shaika zatt ass!

Scientific curiosity... it is not necessary in life.

In France we don't have Heinz Baked Beans and our lives could be good.

CBY Thanks for helping us understand the bumpy ride in my 4/4 ... At maximimum bump force as shown in that graph (which is most thought provoking) I think that it indicates we experience more than a doubling in weight. Taking the logical result forward I guess the weight of the vehicle would increase too and therefore the tyres double their footprint on the road. I don't think the MCC mention this feature in their sales brochure !
Now I know why those riders in a trials car jump up and down to increase traction on a steep hillside.. viking scared sos drive goodnight

Thanks CBY. It would have been good to compare results from before and after I had the ssl suspension mods fitted.

Also I think our evoque has a harder ride than our merc GLC. I think I’ll have a go at this

It might be addictive, have you tried any other comparisons?

I made the SSL conversion in july 2017 and now cannot make the comparison except with a friend having a PLUS 4, but not the same car.
Perhaps i could have the oportunity to do it in the future.

I made some years ago a mathematical model of half of the front suspension with Scilab in order to compare the both configuration.
I found a significant difference on the paper. The only problem with a model is to adjust it with a real item.
But in my case this is impossible. In the model I use sinus excitation and the difficulty is to find a road with a sinus profile!

On the road with my Mog we found a real improvement (with my bum, RichardV6 method). Not to bad.

I’m convincing myself that the SSL upgrade is better. It didn’t seem to be at first, as adjusting the shock absorber settings seemed to make no difference. Perhaps the new kingpins bushes were very tight. I’d like to try the comparison with different shock absorber settings, now that I’ve done a few miles. Maybe you’ll get there first.

Clearly I am no scientist but I am trying to understand this! Surely when comparing the "bounce" of different vehicles the weight + distribution of said weight along with size of wheel/tyre + tyre pressure must be taken into consideration? By the way Heinz Baked Beans make a considerable difference to the comfort of a Morgan ride laugh2 rofl

I think that’s right. My backside says the merc rides better, it would be good to see some quantification. I have worked out that they are different vehicles with different tyres.
And I think the Heinz effect is to provide a regularly replenishing air cushion under the drivers substructure
