Just completed 750 miles after having my 2018 4/4's suspension fettled with the Rutherford conversion at New Elms. Geometry reset and also added a Pad Hard Rod and Brake Reaction Bars and rear AVO shocks. The handing, ride and braking, on wet motorways, A roads, and potholed country lanes are all transformed from the original MMC factory set up. Tim is a charming man to deal with. Nothing was to much trouble.

That's great to hear, is the Rutherford conversion similar to the SSL one for the rear? And if so, do you know how it compared on price? Thanks

I just did basically the same thing to my '73 4/4 this winter. I've only had it out a few times since, but the car feels great. I also replaced the leaf springs which were quite worn out at 50 years old.
The Rutherford is a simpler kit. The SSL is MUCH more expensive.

In 2018 I had front and rear SSL upgrades done by Williams on a 2011 Plus 4. The total price was about £5,300 inc VAT. The rear 5-link assembly is the expensive item - well over £2k without VAT!

Thanks The Rutherford conversion replaces the Armstrong lever action shock absorbers with tubular units and retains the leaf springs. The SSL system replaces the entire rear suspension with a 5 link system including coil over shock absorbers and a Panhard rod. The SSL is 10X the cost of the Rutherford.

Thanks, and generally this is considered money well spent from what i've read??

That’s what I thought, so not sure how a Rutherford Conversion applies to the 2018 4/4 ?
