Sadly, suspension surface rust is a Trad feature. I think the theory is that once an even coat of rust develops, it protects the surface. However I have to paint mine satin black. The rusty disc edge is a feature of most cars, and again can be remedied with paint. But when these comonents are visible you would hope that MMC would make a bit more effort to protect the look.

The side grille could be improved with a narrow U section of neoprene, which would tidy it up no end and would allow ACF50 to be dribbled down inside occasionally.

I did ask whilst my Roadster was being built if stub axles and track rod ends were painted, after seeing rust on new ones whilst still in assembly. I was told yes they get painted black. In actual fact they get sprayed over with black underseal although with the required masking only small parts of the stub axle receive this treatment.

On my M3W the TRE's received no coating at all and nothing seems to have changed with the Super 3. The first job I did on both new cars was to paint with silk black Hammerite as much of the bare metal suspension parts as possible. I appreciate some owners nowadays may not want to do this but it seems MMC still rest their laurels on Peter Morgan's philosophy of not providing a fully finished car, to allow new owner participation innocent

Next winter I will be replacing kingpins and bushes and actually look forward to the opportunity this will provide of fully painting the stub axles.

Yes, that's the point. All exposed parts should be finished like a high-end motorcycle. This includes making sure that the wishbone welds are perfect.

I was gutted, clearly the battery is draining, and any plans for long road trips this summer in the S3 won't be happening. I just don't trust it anymore! Luckily I live only 20 minutes from the docks and the warning light went away after 10 seconds or so.........During the drive home the clutch went, and I couldn't get the car into gear whatsoever, and came to a stop in a lay-by!

Very sorry to hear but please note these lows and highs are absolutely part of the Morgan car experience it seems. Hopefully when rebuilt the clutch will be reliable, and hopefully someone can work out what is draining the electrics when stopped (might be worth asking them to put an isolator in / see if the battery holds its charge when disconnected!

Chris, on re-reading this I think your problem is the battery not the alternator. If the charge light goes out then the alternator should be generating a current. So it sounds as if the battery is discharging and either it's faulty (most likely) or there is a leakage in the car's system. Any decent garage should have a battery tester which will quickly determine if it's the battery.

Yeah, hopefully you’re right. I’m going to pester them and make sure they thoroughly check it this time and find out what’s causing it. And not to return the car until they do.

I’ve got a bit of an update on the Super 3.

The car is still at the dealership. The clutch is all fixed. Though they are still currently trying to diagnose the battery warning light. Morgan have given them a list of tests to help with the diagnosis.

Though there is some good news! Someone emailed me from Morgan on behalf of Massimo! They have apologised for all the issues I’ve been having and have refunded me for all my costs for getting the car delivered to them the first time. And have also refunded me for the plane and ferry tickets.

So fingers crossed the Super 3 will be back soon and I can enjoy it fully this summer.

Hopefully it'll not be too long until you get it back and can start enjoying it properly. smile

Very happy for you to hear that it seems to turn out well - nice (but justified) gesture from Morgan. Hope you can fully enjoy the summer ahead!
