Sound-bite politics pours out of Westminster, spoken from a standing position before the party resumes a sedentary position onto a green leather seat.

The more I hear those deceivers, the more irritated I get.
Up-Stitch, Stitch-Up, Cross-Stitch, Un-Stitch, Lock-Stitch, Sh%#t-Stitch.

At the local elections I voted Green. Never again a Tory.

Graham, I didn't bother to vote and probably will not vote again, I feel utterly disenfranchised.
It really is all rather depressing, nothing is believable anymore.

Peter, I can see where you are coming from but remember, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain about any policies.

Exactly you must vote im my opinion. I didn't vote Tory & doubt I ever will again after the last 13 years of them crashing the country. The only choice we had was lib dem so they were the least worse option.

Both Tory councillors were resoundedly evicted. Here they passed during covid under emergency planning rules a massive increase in the village size effectively doublimg it

The added infrastructure is a roundabout. No shops , doctors , dentists etc etc

Same in my patch, I voted independent and the Conservatives lost 12 councillors to Lib Dem and independents, the self indulgent national Conservative freak show of recent years has really left me angry.

But when I hear the same old “shut down the independent school sector” rhetoric from the Labour Party it seems to me they are just as ideologically stupid as the other lot. Where the heck do they think they will put all the pupils from independent schools when hard working parents can’t afford to pay another 25% on top of school fees? banghead

Maybe a sopabox topic but Starmer is no leader & sems intent on not having the energy to win. The bar is very low vs Sunak et al but he doesn't inspire me.

A dodgy subject this but I have to say that we should all vote even if you spoil your paper to express total disgust with all the parties. I always make the effort as peolpe have suffered and died to allow me the chance to express my thoughts even if as we all seem to agree that there isn't much to choose from.

Politics is just rich people telling poor people what they can and can't do.
I have no time for this and because the outcome of a spoilt ballot paper and not going to the polling station is identical, I don't waste any time or effort to go and vote.
I refuse to give a positive vote to people I have absolutely no faith in.

I've long argued that just 2 changes are needed.
1. Mandatory voting with a £250.00 fine for not voting.
2. A space on the paper "None of the above". If None of the above won then all those on the ballot paper would be blocked from standing for public office for 5 years.

Yes and that is TRUE democracy in action nobody should be forced to vote or suffer a penalty for not doing so..

I did vote for the Orange party as it was the only option open other than the Tory.
