Hi, I’m sorry if this question has been asked before, I’ve searched but can’t find it. I have a 4/4 80th Anniversary which has the traditional hood. The handbook is vague about how to fit the hood and in what order to do things. I’m paranoid about getting it wrong and cracking the windscreen. Can anyone tell me the best way to do it? I haven’t needed the hood so far but want to be prepared in the event of a downpour. Thanks in anticipation. John

The best way to fit the traditional hood is start at the rear, then do the windscreen part. Removal of the windscreen lift the dot fasteners is made easier with a teaspoon. You can make your life a lot easier if you fit a set of hood swivel pivots (and reduce stress on screen) - as here: http://www.morganhoods.com/id70.html

And start in the center and then move to the sides while fastening te lift the dots at your windscreen! To prevent cracking.

I have an 80th with the same hood. My retailer walked me through the below for putting it on.
1. Fasten the hood to the windscreen first. This ensure there is absolutely zero strain on the windscreen 2. Fasten the inner lift dots at the rear along the back 3. Pull up the frame to raise the top and get this into the place along the seams of the top 4. Start snapping the rear outer part of the top to the body 5. Fasten the twist fasteners (name?) on the side and the one snap before the door.
The key thing is to avoid pulling on the windscreen.
To remove I do the steps above in the reverse order.
Welcome to the world of Morgan and an 80th at that!

I’ve the same car as Perry, we both bought new at much the same time, I’d concur with his advice. For peace of mind though, I payed no attention to any instructions when I picked mine up from the factory and now that I’ve read that, I realise I have never done it properly since! This reminded me of a highland day trip in summer when a freak hail storm caught me out, I’d hail stone in my boxer shorts by the time I had the roof on😂 ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2018/04/30/588D81BF-BAF4-4303-A58F-833050222AD9.jpg)

Many thanks for the responses, very helpful. I’ll be ordering some swivel pivots as they come so highly recommended. Nice picture of your car Ewan, the same as mine but that traditional number plate looks so much better than the current style. Cheers, John
