I see you have a charger socket wired under the dash, did you know you can use the existing 12v power socket and save having a dangling wire

I see you have a charger socket wired under the dash, did you know you can use the existing 12v power socket and save having a dangling wire Not wise to use cigar lighter socket for charging due to possible poor connection, volt drop etc. The extra one appears to be non-reversible thicker cable connector dedicated to charger and often supplied with them for easy hookup, hopefully wired direct to battery.

The cigar lighter should be fine for the trickle charging you want for battery maintenance, as the current is so low. I would not use it for faster charging.

I have been using the cigarette lighter for trickle charging my LiOn battery for a couple of years now without any problems.
2019 M3W Sold and is now in Las Vegas enjoying the showgirls :-)

I use the same direct connection to the battery for charging, there have been a number of recorded instances of fires as a result of using the cigarette or accessory points especially when left unattended and unfused. Not in M3Ws as far as I know but why take the risk.
