Do you have any problems reaching and operating the handbrake ? This is probably me being a numpty, but I haven't yet figured-out how to use the Mog fly-off handbrake to hold the car on a hill ???? Same as you do when using it on the level. Pull the lever back and push the button to lock. If parking on a hill, I'd also leave it in gear.

Learnt the hard way not to use/trust the hand brake when jumping out of the car to post a letter on a hill with the engine running. Plus 4 started slowly rolling down the hill - luckily managed to jump in and use foot brake.
Only use fly off with engine off and in gear and preferably level.

So here I am in a conventional car, approaching a T-junction on a hill. In a car with manual transmission, with my left hand I use the handbrake to progressively hold the car on the hill, while slipping the clutch and getting ready to pull way in first. It's that sequence I have failed to master with the fly-off, as it doesn't seem to have a progressive action.

The fly-off should work in the same way - the principles are the same, handbrake cable pulling on a lever system on the rear drums/discs. On hill starts/junctions I tend to hold the car on the handbrake with my left hand (without pressing the button) but with clutch disengaged and in gear. When moving off I release the handbrake while engaging the clutch. However I do the same in the MG which has a conventional handbrake. I struggle with the Mrs car as it's automatic and has autobrake and rubbish.

I struggle with the Mrs car as it's automatic and has autobrake and rubbish. I hate the autobrake/hill start facility on modern cars.

I’ve always wondered, why fit a fly off hand brake where you can’t reach it without leaning forward, it makes no sense

Well I do... I had a 4/4 for 30 years with the handbrake on the left side of the tunnel. We now have a '98 4/4 that has the handbrake on the right side of the tunnel... So lots of flapping about un learning muscle memory!
