A very interesting and honest look at the countries extensive experience here . I found it a very interesting perspective and overview of the various issues some of which had not occurred to me.

That is an interesting read. It reinforces my view that politicians are not great at creating and implementing anything that requires a strategic view.

Interesting read but ironic and cynical when you consider Norway's export of oil and gas is nearly 50 % of its economy, and they use those revenues to create a massive sovereign fund, but believe EV's somehow address in part that ecological damage their exports create..

Lets not miss the fact that they also have the benefit of a significant hydro electric capability to charge the cars. It makes sense from that perspective.

I've friends in Stavanger, and it would appear that they can't rely on the hydro electric generation all year round, weather patterns have changed and they struggle during the summer and have to import more electricity than in the past

I have just come back from Norway and as of 2025 they will only sell EV’s, that’s only 14 months away. It’s ironic that the country exports so much oil and gas, but they have a massive fund to keep them going in the future, this fund is built on oil and gas sales over the years. With this future thinking, has the UK saved a percentage of the North Sea sales for the future ?

Our politicians used it to reduce income tax which benefited the better off.

Norway should not be demonised for exporting oil and gas. Of course we will need oil for decades to come. Just look around your house and take out everything that is manufactured using materials derived from oil or gas. Even the wife's knickers are not made from cotton, wool or silk - could be made from leather I suppose. Of course they are probably nylon or similar derived from oil. Could use coal possibly. I am watching the TV at present, it is encapsulated in oil.
