For those of you who might not be familiar with ChatGpt, it’s a free app for anyone to be able to converse with an artificially intelligent bot,

Last night I asked it to write a poem which it did in seconds. Unbelievable.

Also, had a philosophical discussion with it last night, which was quite incredible as well.

Scary stuff .... the scanning's somewhat off and the rhyme is a bit literal but a great effort ... well up to greeting-card standards but not quite ready for inclusion in an anthology.

These things are going to replace a lot of pedestrian copy writers in short order .... what with this and deep-fake, once the tabloids and media get on board we may as well be living in the Matrix!

Indeed scary stuff, especially for teachers (asking students to write a paper on a topic): you can't trace it or run it through the computer looking for copywrite.

Have a friend who's a teacher ... she's already caught out a few who have turned in AI work ... by knowing the pupils she can spot the discrepency (having a kid who didn't know what 'multifaceted' means when asked ...when it was in the work he submitted .... was enough to get a confession 🙂) . Kid honestly couldn't see what was wrong with what they'd done.

But not every teacher knows their classes as well .... she reckoned it wasn't impossible that if things progressed as they are that we'd see a return to 'blind question' exams ... sat in a big hall, no phones/watches, close invigilation, do it on the day sink or swim .... like it used to be in my school days. We live in interesting times.

Wait until you see the energy AI sucks, that's a lot of computer thingamiees. Makes bitcoin look a touch lame.

Like everything before it, it you are not paying for that MASSIVE hunk of power consuming tin then YOU are the product and anything you interact with it will become valuable to someone else. The price Microsoft is charging for their business AI stuff is pretty wicked which indicates what it would really cost if normally funded.

It's going to be a long list. I am concerned for the next generation. I guess that demonstrates I have become the dinosaur.

Only a short time before the spammers start to use it to make their wares more effective. Set AI reading your fussbook timeline and then send you a personally formatted challenge which causes you to react and provide personal information. My best suggestion would be to start seeding you timelines with strong red herring information that can trigger a personal response - put on a wrong birthday that your friends know is wrong. mention something which has personal stuff they can trigger - bank name, store, username on a well known site like amazon. It will key on this and send you things you can use to spot Dr Evil.

Yet another layer to be abused by people with bad intention if left unmanaged. Lets hope thr good guys use it better than the bad boys?
