Check the drivers list. The Bonomi brothers, Andrea and Carlo from New York and now Italy, are the owners of the newly re-named Morgan Motor Company, through various holding companies, notably InvestIndustrial (associated with the largest private Invest company in the world, the US Carlyle Group. A little Swiss holding company does not normally hire mega-billionaire rally drivers. wink This is apparently a lark for them, as I suspect the purchase of the MMC was. Mega billionaires do hire themselves as rally drivers any more than they normally buy mom&pop little car manufacturers. grin2

I am getting to like this more and more. thumbs I will be tracking this rally. flag

God forbid, you don't want a radiator or brake failure on the East Africa Safari - mind the CXT does smack of Italian vanity input - all show and no go rofl

An investment Company has little interest in the product but will know the monetary return within the Cent so we know it will be a short relationship as history always repeats itself. wink

Once Steve left or -------------) ahem the writing was on the wall for MMC as we knew it, sad but true hide sherlock Bankers and Lawyers in charge has only one outcome.

I am more than curious how such a "Trad" drives on the road if you tune it accordingly. That looks very interesting. A car where money plays absolutely no role, only the best, obviously. What a lucky coincidence that the Bonomi Brothers have fun with their toys. A good sign for MMC.

The accounts were published last week for 2022 the debt makes interesting reading. It's beyond me but I'd be interested to know where the return is going to come, either that or they were very expensive rally cars

Don't think the CXT was intended as an out and out competition off-roader ... just a factory-made 'Sporting Car Trials' car. A full-on Safari Rally car wouldn't be the dual-purpose car it needed to be.

Rallying is more a test of a modified car and its preparation and its reliability and crew in the most difficult circumstances that can be arranged, within the parameters of the specific Rally regs. Most entries never make the finish line. As for "Italian" vanity, these fellows are as Italian as the Empire State Building laugh2, born, bred and educated in New York, NY. As for the "all show" stuff, the CX cars are very last expression of the just past Morgan Family regime (2000 to 2019), happening when they ran out of their 2010 stockpile of Charles Morgan BMW V8s (in 2018). All this can be seen at glance at the aeroesque chassis type and BMW engines of the CX cars. 2019 Italian automobile taste does not normally include 1930s British sports car shapes (though I think that would be a great idea for them!) smile

I do agree with you that the company's continued existence depends on whether the continue having a good time.

I know and like Steve. But in retrospect he was not the best choice. I do not want to elaborate about him for obvious reasons. However, one comparison of the regime before Steve to his was that he could not ever have acted in the way Planenut reports. Haven't heard of such a thing since the Peter Morgan era. (Talk to an older Morgan racer). I find the gesture extremely charming, as I used to about such actions 20 years ago.

It would be very hard to classify the purchase of Morgan Technologies (now the MMC again) as an "investment" as you/I know of such for these people. Nothing then would make sense. Think of it as a fun passtime. The latest statements bear that out. The Morgan money and profit potential should logically be irrelevant to them. InvestIndustriel and the Carlyle group have 300,000,000,000 (yes billions) under control. Even if you divide figure that by the total number of companies they boast of (I believe honestly), you get an average of 150,000,000 (million) each, or a long way from their purchase of the 6 mil Morgan company, or 1/25th the size of their average company size.

It is more logical, coupled with THEIR driving the Rally cars, this has to be a fun thing. Why would you think they cannot be charmed by Morgans like we are? Profits myopia is merely what our upbringing victimizes us with. I stopped operating on those principles decades ago. These guys can have the fun they want. There is nothing in law against losing money, especially when you are having a good time. Sounds the same as the standard Golf Club membership to me. I had a lot of fun with those as I do with doodling on gomog.

As for those 'evil' lawyers and bankers you speak of, read the Notice to Reader at the bottom of Page 13. Yet the HSBC lends them 16 million, "with pleasure sir". I am liking these Bonomi guys more every minute. Sadly my beautiful daughter is already married. frown

If all is as we two hope, I agree completely with you Heinz. I cannot guess at another explanation at the moment. And hey! They got the very top bigwigs from Aston Martin Lagonda and Lamborghini running the firm. Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth just yet.

You summed it up well MMC is just a toy to them and like spoilt children they will discard it when they get bored with it - that was my point exactly.
