Now isn’t this fun.

When I was in practice the topic that brought the biggest smile to my patients faces was when we talked about food or their favorite places to go out to eat. Alcohol is food isn’t it? Ha, ha!

This is great. I’m going to learn some things I’m not aware of.

For me, food and drink often conjures up happy memories, so a good G&T always brings back memories of the first drink on the flight back home after a business trip abroad. More recently, my family and I had a very good holiday in the French town of Chinon in the Loire Valley. Just a few doors down the street from our excellent AirBnB was Bras(se)fort, the most micro microbrewery I have ever come across. The anglo french partnership produce a range of beers that we all enjoyed immensely and sadly, have drunk all the bottles we brought home with us, but the memories linger, and we will be back!

Enjoying a slice right now. The crust is great. The simple things in life are the best.

Anybody enjoy any mixed drinks unique to their part of the world?

A very simple but popular mixed drink on hot summer days is a mixture of equal parts beer and lemonade. It's called a Radler. It also only has about 2.5 % alcohol.
I did some googling and found something similar in Anglo-American countries, called shandy, often based on ginger ale instead of lemonade.
I also like Campari soda with ice as very practical, refreshing and simple, in contrast to sophisticated cocktails.

I’ve never heard of either. Very interesting drinks. I researched them on the internet and both are available locally to me. We have a store called Total Wine that probably has every alcoholic product in the world. A quite amazing but bewildering store since there are thousands of products in it.

Christmas sausage rolls are a tradition I’m not familiar with. I looked them up on the Internet and see quite a variation on how to make them. I found this picture on the internet, do the ones you make look anything like the picture here?

They look really good.

I’m going to morph this thread a little bit. Please continue to list your favorite drinks but also if you have any traditional holiday handheld bites your family makes ( like the Christmas sausage rolls ) let us know. I might get some great ideas for Christmas Eve. My family gets together then and we traditionally make an assortment of handheld foods.
