Having recently changed broadband provider from BT to Virgin I find that my wireless printer will not connect to my MacBook air (and vice versa) when I go into system preference it doesn't show any printers/scanners.
I can connect the MacBook direct to the printer via a cable (usb port) and it works ok

Any suggestions please.

Have you "connected" the printer to the new router?

You’ll need to re-establish a wireless connection. Look at the instructions for your devices to get the method. It will be similar to what you did previously.

Paul/Sospan, thank you for the suggestions, I have already tried that, I went into the O2/virgin shop today and asked one of the assistants about this problem and she said it connects via bluetooth, but I am not entirely convinced by this (yes its ok in a room but not over a greater distance) I thought it connected via the wireless router otherwise why do you have to put the router password and key into the printer?
Still confused.

David, try a full reset to factory settings on the printer, and then link to the new Router as if it was new 'out of the box'

It is likely that they linked over wifi.

Your BT router will have had a name it transmitted (SSID)
The new Virgin router will have a new name. You will have probably have linked your Mac to it using an encryption key (WPA)
The printer also needs to learn the new Virgin SSID and WPA key.

As mentioned a total reset of the printer, leading to a fresh setup where you enter these details virgin router wifi details is likely to be best.

More than happy to help if you want to DM me.

Make certain that you delete the current printer config on the Mac before you start the setup process so that it does have to learn it again.

Can you share the printer model ?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
