Used to have this issue all the time when writing reports for multi-national clients.. American English for America and Canada and English for the UK and Europe.. Now my mind just mixs both variations together !

Being a Brit living and working in America I find speaking and writing in good "old English" a huge benefit, except for one CEO who returned my writings marked in red where I used English spelling instead of American. Aluminum v Aluminium is always the most interesting especially in Hardware stores, of course I love saying Herb as opposed to Erb along with many more. As the world shrinks with instant global interaction so things will find there own level which may not be as we know it to be.

Sadly the British and Americans firmly believe it is the same as American. (shrug) I read the French translation. gmg

Totally agree with the OP, it used to really annoy me when the engineers Sulphate specs in concrete got quoted by suppliers as Sulfate resistance

Very poor. Never heard of spell checker? As in "spallchucker?" Often requires a grammar checker to go alongside it - maybe a load of errant apostrophes would disappear?
