I believe that the article in the DM is artificially creating a polarisation. It is what they do. The DM is an odious rag. Mrs F reads it daily and comes out with some wierd stuff.

Robert - i was just about to say that you were of this parish. Your story will be in the next ThamesMOG newsletter.  The article with picture is about opposition of Wetherspoons opening in Marlow

Haven't been on the forum for a while but someone pointed out that they had spotted me in the Mail and in following the story up on line it led me to this conversation. Just innocently taking the scenic route back from Maidenhead to Reading via Marlow, Henley, Wallingford and Pangbourne. Certainly not expecting to get caught up in a debate about a proposed Wetherspoons in Marlow. I didn't see the photographer although I recall driving down that particular road. Ah well, fame at last!

The folk of Marlow are pretty well up themselves so it's no real surprise that they wouldn't want a spoons, they're probably offended at the suggestion that they need cheap beer...!!
There's a spoons in Henley which is just down the road, they're posh and generally loaded as well, but perhaps the regatta brings in more young rowers on the lash🤷🏻♂️
