How about a little poll here in the forum to see whether you'd rather get involved in this deal (e.g. Plus Four, 40K for 2 years), or buy a Trad for the same amount?

it could be argued that the current supply of used Morgans is already in excess of demand. When I bought my 4/4 in 2000 there were fewer than 40 Morgans available nationally on the second hand market.

I just hope these deals help the company to keep going!

Auto Xpress have featured it as their deal of the day. They reckon residuals after 3 years/60k miles will be 65%.

Always going to be a problem for Morgan .... niche market and selling cars that a succession of owners will be happy to subject to serial restos and will be about cluttering the market for half a century or more. Fine when you're making a small number of simple cars that have their development costs largely amortised a generation ago ...... development costs of integrating complex systems into the latest models will be ongoing as the legislative landscape develops and tech follows it.

Not a problem for the bland-mobile makers ... fashion and built-in obselescence constantly removes their old cars off to the scrapyard leaving the field clear for their new sales..... much harder for Morgan to drive an agressively expansionist sales model

About six when I was looking in the 80's. More than once I arrived to view a car to be told it had sold whilst I was on my journey. There was certainly no looking-then-go-away-to-think-about-it.
It will be interesting to see how things pan out. There's a dealer near me offering a really low mileage seventies plus 8 with 4 speed and the lovely narrow rear arches for 27k. Seems really cheap to me. He told me prices on all his lovely selection of impeccable classics had "stabilised". Presumably motor trader talk meaning "plummeted"....

When I wanted a 3.7 Roadster and it would have cost my Roadster plus over £30k, for me it made more sense to buy another Trad.

Now I could trade in both for a CX but I really don't see any pleasure (the way I interact with my Trads) by having a CX.

Would I spend £40k on that deal. NO.

I remember surfing cars for sale right back around 2000, and there were always loads of Trads on the market. Especially in winter. There will always be a buyer for a particular Trad, in the same way that I had exacting needs in 2008. The Trads which might stick are those with bland colour/trim options specced by dealers. We've discussed the Trad market several times on here in the past.

We also had a discussion about the BMW MINI vs the Classic Mini. I'm rather biased because we've had 4 Classic Minis, and the best was an Almond Green woody traveller. I'm not likely to ever have either but with space, a perfect Mini Traveller would be in my fleet.

I think this is the key to it. They are different markets?

(not intending to say that the upgrade path from a trad to a Plus is not entirely valid given it is more comfy?)

I never "gelled" with the Minor Nick, and never had one. But I'll tell you what...if I was 40 again with space in the garage I would be looking at that Plus 8 for 27k..........because it would make a perfect rebuild into concours project!!!!!
