It will take a while before the magazine makes it over the pond. The bookstore just received an order of April edition.

It will take a while before the magazine makes it over the pond. The bookstore just received an order of April edition. I use an app called “Readly” where you can read many magazines and newspapers - it looks like there are over 250 motoring titles. Only costs a few pounds per month, and saves on trees and postage.

Here's an extract on the Roadster The thing is, we are now in a Morgan that produces four times the power of its forebear, yet still employs the same basic chassis design as the Plus 4 weʼve just stepped out of – albeit with a raft of detail revisions. No question, the Roadster feels blisteringly quick: itʼll blast to its 7000rpm redline effortlessly, accompanied by a strident, cultured V6 bark. Its mid-range performance is exceptional, too, allowing you to dip into a deep well of torque in higher gears. But it all feels a bit too much for a car whose underpinnings hark largely from the pre-war era. Even accelerating hard in a straight line on a dry track, the car feels overwhelmed, twitching at every gearchange. The steering has a little too much power assistance, too, feeling pointy and nervous just off the straight-ahead, though it loads up progressively enough as you apply more lock through corners. But when you do, the front end feels untidy and detached, sending unwanted kickback through the steering system. Braking performance, though strong enough, is also hampered by slightly mushy, inconsistent pedal feel.

Can't argue with most of above quote although for me it adds to the experience. I think the "twitching at every gearchange" relates to the dual mass flywheel something I noticed within a couple of miles of collecting the car from new. Certainly, should you be foolish enough , it's possible to loose traction on the straight at around 60 mph in third on wet roads as the full torque kicks in, although I'm close to needing new tyres.

Richard, I needed new rears at 27k, and to be safe did the fronts at 29k ahead of the driving season.

I think the article is a nice review of three individual cars. As TM members know, Morgans vary a lot, and even a change of tyre pressure can affect the handling to quite a degree!

I wonder how old the 'tester' was because if you're going to rag a Roadster to it's red line for every gear change then beware...it will be twitchy, the yoof of today don't drive with that seat of the bum feedback a proper car gives, they are far too reliant on ABS, TC and other electrickery to stop them falling off the first twisty corner

Here in UK you can join your local library and access their digital services at your home. My council uses an app called Press reader. 100s of magazines, daily papers, everything. All free
