Just love these gentlest of giants.. I think this was the South Hams ploughing competition a few years ago now, it's an annual event. George Allen back in the 60's used to chop two pots off the XK engine and mate it to the A series Tx. Amazing, but a bit nose heavy. Well unless it was a twin tank 'S' and they were both full

2/3 of a Jag 6 cyl vs 1275 a-series lump
Probably about 100lbs difference ... in favour of the a-series.

Race Cooper S about 130bhp .... race E-Type (short 1/3 of its cylinders and 1/3 of of its 400 bhp) 260 bhp .... double the power for 100lbs weight gain .... can see why you'd have a go .... however racecars are all about all the elements balancing .... not a clue how the Jag/Mini fared in the results back in the day but my gut says ill-handling monster 🙂

Ps ... all just fag-packet calculations 🙂 .... I wonder if someone remembered this when Jag made the V6 by deleting 2 pots of the V8 🙂

Apparently he solved the weight distribution problem by fitting two "Jag" engines - front and rear !
They weren't actually Jag engines but did use cut down heads from the 2.4 Jaguar on custom made crankcases.
