Thanks Tim,
I fancy trying my hand at 3D printing so I'll do some studying and see where it leads.
Don't think I can justify your machine though. Creality Ender 3 printers seem to be quite popular at the moment, you can get them for less than £250 so a much easier entry point than Ultimaker kit. I'd still recommend using Ultimaker Cura as your slicer software though, it's free and very efficient at converting drawings to gcode. I use TurboCAD for doing the 3D modelling but that's just because it's what I'm familiar with, a lot of people use Fusion360 which has a free version available.

Ta Colin (as my spare wheel carrier and spare blocks the high Viz these are a must for me.)
The Cobra style light is a bit better in this respect but when there is luggage on you still need to work out some system to get a 3rd brake light on top of the luggage. You don’t happen to have a Link do you? No idea if the light you mention but could be chemo brain as having a bad reaction to this cycle.... and leads welcome. Cheers Colin

Thanks Tim, Found a supplier called Technology Outlet fairly close to me with a showroom so will go and have a talk to them about the Creality Ender range. I'm surprised how cheap it is considering it's capability but I'm sure I'm missing something and there will be shortcomings somewhere. What are the key questions to ask and compare? If something looks too good to be true, etc, etc. Sorry I'm mixing the thread up a bit.

There's a reasonably comprehensive review of them here: https://letsprint3d.net/review-creality-ender-3-3d-printer-kit/I bought my Ultimaker a couple of years ago, my criteria were: - European built - Good reviews of accuracy - Good support I've no doubt that the cheaper Chinese printers are capable of good results, but they probably need a fair amount of tinkering with to set up properly. My Ultimaker hs been brilliant straight out of the box and is very well built. If I was going to buy another I'd get an Ultimaker again. With all 3D printers, dimensional accuracy depends on a lot of factors like material, nozzle size, ambient conditions, and so on. But all the fiddling is done in the slicer software that generates the gcode, any printer just needs to have bearings with no slop, belts with no stretch, and an ability to level the bed and calibrate it accurately.

Thanks for the info Tim. Seems like I have some direction now. Simon, thanks, I'll catch up with you when I "pop in for 5 minutes" to pick up my Panhard Rod early January. But don't confuse me, If I spend too much on a 3D printer I won't be able to afford my new fuel tank.

Hi Hamwich, Have you a product code from the supplier link for the led tail/stop light bulbs? Is it just a straight swap over from the originals? John
