Well having taken ten years break from overseas travel after an absolute sufeit for work over a protracted period, we have decided to renew our Passports and are planning some new adventures to as yet unseen countries.

Having completed the necessary online forms we posted off the requested documents on the 20th May, lo and behold new Passports delivered on the 29th May. A Bank Holiday weekend included as well !
That is what I call GOOD Service and great to see the Civil Service in good order, credit where it's due folks.

Brilliant. You’ll be able to venture over the Tamar now into Cornwall. 😬

Tis fair enuff then I unerstand now, have a good weekend.

Our Son and his wife live down by at St Eval and they near enough live in the sea on boards or swimming and we visit frequently.
This is our favorite place for lunch with such friendly local staff and good food at sensible prices.

I had to apply for my British passport renewal from Italy. The online process went reasonably well and the turn around time was quite good. When something is set up as well as the passport application system it is a painless process. If only all government on-line services worked so well.

As you say Richard, an impressivly good service.

I'm hoping for an equally speedy response from the DVLA for my bike registration, but that may be wishful thinking......

Well done for getting ready to travel again Richard, I know exactly how you felt regarding self travel after career travels. I retired early coming up to eight years ago and vowed never to travel overseas for 3 years.. It was not for the lack of the enjoyment once on the ocean or at the destination, but the hassle of getting to that point. I still absolutely hate airports, always arrive early and my wife says I automatically switch back into crew herding/management mode.. that is herding her through the airport check-in/immigration/customs.. I also miss the flying experience that used to be there in to 70's/80's/90's, flying is not the same now, even on the few occasions getting on the aircraft and turning left instead of right the "club/1st" experience is not the same. However, I still quite enjoy ferry trips ( upto a day ) and use the Plymouth - Roscoff ferry link a fair bit, nice and relaxed, easy check-in and loading and also easy out at Roscoff.. I think the only event was one particular customs officer that insisted I open the boot for him to inspect, he just did not get it that the Morgan did not have one, as a face saving episode he then asked me to open both the bonnet sides.

Good to see you preparing to expand your horizons again.

Like many civil service organisations, the passport office works well for the normal things. If only they could respond as well to the abnormal!
