Suggest you stay away from OE replacements Nigel as this is a very common issue with them. Most people fit these (image link) universal ones cut to suit. The material is more supple than that of OE. Mine first leaked and then split whilst car still under warranty after just a few thousand miles. I gave a pair of these to dealer who fitted them under warranty giving me the OE replacements. No issue since five years down the road.

I had generic ones fitted as well. I think most garages will have them or they are on sites like fleabay

I bought mine from Car Builder Solutions as per link. On this occasion was a little wary of unknown source ones although I admit they were probably the same.

Another tick here for the ones Richard recommends, mine failed too on a 2018 Roadster & then the OE replacements leaked again, cured with the Car Builder Sol'n ones

And you purchased them from carbuilder.com? I had hoped the Quaife R&P gaiters would be better than the terrible Jack Knight ones..but not to be. It doesn't take much to remove the R&P and install them, or, in the case of JK, fashion a center piece. JK (if the can be reached) and Andre Koopmann (Germany) sell kits for the JKs. gmg

Hi I have a 1997 Plus 8 and I have a split steering rack gaiter. Melvyn Rutter quotes £80 plus VAT and delivery for a Morgan replacement. I see the comments above relate mainly to Roadsters so does anyone know where I can get a replacement at a reasonable price? I previously bought one EBay for about £10 that was supposedly for a Plus 8 but it was completely wrong. Any help would be appreciated and a specific suppliers name would be appreciated. Cheers Ernie Knowles

Ernie, Jack Knight steering racks were used on Morgan's from 1983 until 2007 when the firm went bankrupt. They use one piece steering rack bellows which may explain why you were sent incorrect ones as Quaife racks requiring two gaiters were fitted to later models. There is a thread on the subject here including fitting cheaper options from Saab, Daewoo etc. as shown below. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/05/12/20200502_174137.jpg)
