I certainly hope not!!

No logic in that, as it only satisfies the political needs of a governing class none of us trust any more. A large part the environmental damage caused by vehicles is their production
and EVs no less so. The world's biggest nations still use fossils fuels (including coal) to produce their electricity and that is less regulated than consumer vehicles. The
infrastructure is infinitely too much for us now to maintain and retain, and, if you haven't noticed this morning on the way to work, it is no longer functional.

The logical future is mass transit. We can pay for anything we want if we sell city streets to developers. No traffic jams, auto insurance, fuel, repairs, honking and MUCH faster
getting from A to B. But will auto manufacturers and the support trades stand for it? Frankly, with our existing political structures, I don't think we are realistically involved in the decision.

Brother in Law bought a Taycan through his business due to the tax benefits and it does apparently drive very well. Had a couple of range/charger/time issues and got hacked off with it. Went back to the dealer and asked to do a swap for a 911 and got offered peanuts. 5000 miles and 6 months old. Went ballistic and got no-where. He is now running around and telling everyone who will listen about the Pork experience.

Given this is an area undergoing real time development and change as it integrates into society on many levels I do try and filter the noise from the real facts.
What happens if the slow down (import duty, lack of apparent interest etc) means investment changes.
Does the investment in charging infrastructure also revert? or catch up!
Will there be an overlay of electric only support/repair businesses appear to fill a gap?

How will the outsourcing of EU companies BEV products to Chinese production sites impact things. More of the EU workforce being hollowed out.

I see value in BEV cars but as a parallel solution not a total replacement. It is good to see many aspects

Tesla shaking up the somewhat lack of development in many of the existing manufacturers to the overall benefit of the customer in the medium term.
We have also seen a number go pop, Fisker (again, no surprise) and Lucid being high profiles ones.

It does at least make for more interesting reading than historic stuff like XXXX launches new model for year XXXX with different alloy wheels. It was getting pretty boring.

Yep, for many people (probably even most) this makes a great deal of sense. I could never get into it though as it then requires that you have to keep your job because there's always next month's payment to be found (equally applies to credit cards, mortgages, etc). I was always keen to be able to maintain a sense of independence from work, I needed to be able to 'speak truth to power' as it were without the fear of being fired.

Yep. There are probably some great bargains in used EVs to be had right now that won't be around in a couple of years when the myths have been busted.

Some neighbours of ours picked up a dirt cheap (£2k) Nissan Leaf earlier this year, the seller admitted that its range was down to 35 miles or so. Suits them perfectly for a 10 mile commute to work. Costs about 30p a day to charge up overnight.

Have Lucid gone bust? Last I heard they were increasing production.

I believe it is true but am unable to find an article to share so I could have been fed rumour. It might have literally just occurred. I was told that the accounts had just been sent in.

I know that the results missed every quarter for the last six.
They just cut 400 jobs, always sad.
Air sales never hit projections
They attempted a deep discount last quarter to boost sales.
The CFO bailed on them end of last year.
There was some rumour of a merger with Rivian (who were also sailing close to the wind) which fell through.
Last Q deliveries of the Air missed promise, apparently due to supply issues

I am left handed so should be good to go. Also suspect mine made a break for it years ago.

If they tried to write the current US leadership event into a sitcom script no one would run it because it would make Fawlty Towers look like a factual drama.

I know and love to work with many US people. I have visited some great places on my many visits there. I am beginning to wonder if they have confused their presidency with a sit-com and now get the popcorn in when it is on? One gentleman with good values but perhaps only partly at the wheel. One with no apparent moral values and a lot to loose. How does it make sense to present this as the option to lead such a powerful country or do we all have to shout "it's a puppet" everytime they come on the screen.

You could not make it up. Oh, they did, whoops.
