Crickey that's shocking, is it an Aeromax you have.

We pay 350 for my 1999 plus 8 full NCB self and wife plus legal cover and 5,000 miles pa. Non MSCC member though and I'm with the group that Headley handed us over to and we have the three cars with them, I'd rather have good cover than the cheapest though so maybe I'm not a good example.
A friend of mine who is now a tad on the wrong side of 80 has a new Plus 4; his renewal is around £800 , which he accepts due to his age, value of car etc. HOWEVER, when he enquired of Peter James, the MSCC insurer, it came back as a little over £1600!
That's interesting, just for reference I'm 73 so possibly loaded I don't know. We are hiring a car at Dublin airport next Saturday and they said provided it wasn't a high performance car the insurance will be unaffected.

It does beg the question how much are the MSCC hierarchy getting from James per policy sold to swell their funds, certainly not in any members interest to go with them from what I am reading here hide

Having been with Headley / Finch for 20 years, this year I switched to Gott&Wynn. Peter James quoted almost the same as Finch & couldn’t cope with my request to ensure that I am covered for driving to and from Trustee meetings in my role as a volunteer Trustee with Redwings Horse Sanctuary. G&W were £75 cheaper - mostly accounted for by the cost of European breakdown cover which has rocketed with Finch. And not at all phased by the Trustee bit which many insurers struggle with.

Just pointing out that this topic is about the MSCC's Public Liability Insurance and the need for joint club membership if your partner attends events.

Much as I appreciate that thread drift often occurs, could we perhaps continue the discussion about car insurance in a more appropriate thread - e.g.. MSCC "Approved Insurance" Peter James

Sorry, I don't want to sound grumpy ... just trying to keep things tidy!

Insurance seems to be changing markedly. Rang Finch to tell them of a track day. Insurance allows 3 per annum. In past years that was all that was required. This year I got given a cover note for the day. & a change of excess from the normal £500, to £3500!
