Exactly. I don't think it can be old fuel after 1600 miles But today after adding Redex it seems well reduced. Thnking about it the car did c 700 miles from May 22 till Aug 23 so around 46 miles per month. From Aug 23 till June 24 it did c 200 miles so 20 miles per month. It might need more time to flush out and crud.

I advise you to use an injection circuit cleaner. I do it systematically every year.

I have via the selling agent contacted the original owner. He confirms no pinking noise so I suspect old fuel.
The brakes he says were sorted.

So KH gave the car the once over today and thank god they did. There was a potentially dangerous fault, now fixed and it needs a new rad which is going to be fitted 15/8.
The rear noise was the exhaust vibrating on the tub. The pinking is old fuel & is going away.

Steve,
as I understand it the rad maker forced MMC to use up the older design units which then of course failed. Now they use an updated design. Mine is the original unit but according to the selling dealer had been sorted. Not so it seems. The upside will be that latest design with associated better software.
