Pat,
You didn't go into why you wanted to remove the body, its also worth watching the second part of Edd's video which replaces the chassis and puts the body back on the chassis. You do realise that after Edd and Mike had there hands on it it went back to a Morgan dealer to be rebuilt properly? As for a guide to chassis replacement? Forget it! Any one who has done the job will tell you that the most important job on a chassis change is to get the crosshead set onto the chassis correctly - get that wrong and you are left with a car which will not steer or handle right but that pair don't give it a mention! Arwyn Are you sure about that? My understanding from the dealer concerned was that he sold them the car then bought it back from them done and sold it on to a customer. Was there another dealer involved after that? It was my understanding that the same dealer bought it back, but then had to rectify the faults before selling it on.

Morning everyone! (well it is for me here in Canada)
Thank you all very much for your input and knowledge, you ask some good questions and I should have given you more information when I started this thread (sorry) so here goes.
Over the years I have restored end to end three Morgans including paint, so I know my way around them, and yes I have two post hoist and the room. And yes I watched that Wheeler Dealers video (again) last night. And yes, they do make it look so easy! I don't mind the work, I love it, the bigger project the happier I am.
My buddy wants to do a full chassis/drive train restoration/rebuild, nothing (surprisingly) needs to be done to the body on his '72 +8. My hope was to lift the entire body off (no rad cowl or bonnet of course), store it, rebuild the chassis/drive train then "drop" the body back on.
I'd like to ask why it is not possible to lift the body with the front wings attached, what is stopping it? Is there something in the way that can not be removed (steering column?) or is it supporting the front wings so the body does not flex more than it should?
Thanks! Pat

Thanks everyone, more research told me that while it is possible it is not recommended due to the stress of the basically unsupported weight that could/would crack the paint and bondo etc. Pat
