It certainly isn't designed with aerodynamics in mind. A Cv of 0.9 just like a barn door.

With the Scottish Govt already about to drop the general national speed limit from 60 to 50mph I think we're looking at a future where aerodynamics and drag factor aren't big issues. 🙂 ... will definitely need the leopard-skin interior option though!! 🙂

That is nuts. I hope that does not apply on motorways.

A simple mathematical calculation will show that the result of dropping the speed limit on s section of road will increase the traffic density. That might reduce the severity of accidents but increased traffic density increases the risk of an accident. A trip time increased by about 20% also increases fatigue related accidents.

The blanket general limit not motorways .... single carriageway 60 limit down to 50 .... Scotland is pretty much the same size as England but empty ... there's no motorway to speak of (or even many dual carriageways) outside the urban central-belt (which by a strange coincidence happens to be their main voter base)... we have to do major mileage for simple stuff (90 mile round trip to a hospital or train station) ...serious impact

Given some lower limits along the way the current time for the "90 mile round trip" is probably around two hours (as long as traffic is light). The reduced limit is going to increase the time to around two and a half hours, if not more.

All you need then is 20 mph limits through the villages.

I can't say that I particularly like the current times. Not everything may have been better in the past, but a lot has been lost in terms of good taste.

I like the early E-Type, but I would also rank the XK 120 and XK 140 above it.
