Hopefully, more low-income households will be able to get grants for installing solar and insulation etc. We nearly qualified on grounds of income, but it turned out that mum’s medical issues were enough to get the system installed.

Does this mean you could charge your batteries at the cheap rate and then release the energy back at a dearer rate?
Sounds like a good wheeze....(Although not so good for the planet bearing in mind the overall loss each time energy is converted...) Yep, that's what we do. Our direct debit has reduced by £50/month as a result. Our Direct Debit is £49.87 per month total but we have a Grant condensing oil fired boiler as well, which works out to a similar figure averaged out over the year. 3 bedroom detached 1979 build cavity wall insulation etc.

That's a bit strange as you should get FiT and deemed export which is 50% of your FiT generation The FiT scheme closed to new entrants on 31/03/2019. We had our system installed in December 2020. We've never had any subsidies for exported power.

Replacement
The FIT scheme was replaced by the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) scheme in January 2020. Households with eligible systems can apply for the SEG to receive payments for exporting excess renewable energy.

Yes, but although suppliers are obliged to offer an SEG tariff, there's been no timescale defined for it. In situations like mine, where there are relatively few properties served from my substation, the value of exported power is very low so suppliers are reluctant to offer it. I'm committed to Ecotricity for reasons other than cost, so I don't mind.

Fortunately, whilst he is in our thoughts, we currently live outside his real grasp .God help you all. It looks like whilst he may try and repatriate many millions of US migrants, the US population may grow by 44 million once he adopts Canada, Greenland and Panama. He/s not even President and he apparently has already got Mexico to soften their initial hard line and possible accept other nations illegal migrates into Mexico.
