My guess is that the metal was turned and then formed into the shape; therefore, you could try that route if you can find an independent metal worker. There are some magicians out there and using the original as a basis for a wooden blank to hammer a new piece from could be a last ditch effort.
However, far easier would be calling all the UK breakers. There are more than a few Aero S1s that were written off and I’d be surprised if you didn’t unearth someone with that piece sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere!
Also, have you tried calling Melvyn Rutter? If he doesn’t have the part, perhaps he can suggest a source.

If you watch the Pro's who do the clear stone chip wrapping they use heat guns on the mixed curvature areas

Hi All
Thanks for all of your replies & suggestions.
I had already tried the engine turned wrap method but with the curves it is clearly very hard to get a neat finish without multiple intersecting cut lines. The wrap from an appearance perspective is ok & might be fine for a flat piece.
Regarding using a cork disk on a dowel & abrasive paste this probably would work but I can't see how it can be applied to a convex curve..
Maybe I need to focus on how to best wrap a convex piece, maybe it'll improve with practice. I suppose that at least you can have multiples attempts with a wrap. Otherwise I may need to get the part remade I suspect a vinyl wrap may be the way to go, cheap and easy. good luck

If you do decide a wrap, go and find your local car wrap place. They can be surprisingly accommodating. I got mine to make up and fit a wing number plate - I'd tried myself and made a right pigs ear of it. They charged me a tenner all in.

Agreed, they can do things surprisingly quickly and are not that expensive compared to getting metalwork done etc.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

As above a novice won't be able to wrap that, speak to a proper ppf/wrap place and they will do it easily I imagine for not a huge price (probably less than multiple pieces of wrap!).

I was the one who posted a question about this a year or two ago. I tried Morgan and Melvyn Rutter but the parts are no longer available and were @1000 when they were. Sifab was trying to replicate this for me but the issue I believe was the stretching with all of the curves involved. I sent him the original piece along with the separate resin block that holds the tpms unit and thankfully got the armrest back before he went bust but never got the block back as he still had it when he disappeared.
You could always follow James’s example and polish it to a mirrored finish or get one made of wood to the same spec as your interior wood finish as I think I’ve seen pictures of some cars with that.
The sheer lack of parts was the reason I finally got rid of my S1 but I do still miss it!
