That’s all very helpful and interesting. Thank you.

So, it sounds as if you’re saying that you believe the Blockley will foul on the spring mounts and are therefore a non-starter with a narrow body car. Is that correct?

I think the Plus 4 wheels might protrude a bit too far. I did consider going for some bespoke by Turrino, but they come out a bit expensive, but are amazing wheels.

The factory was sometimes asked to build a 4/4 with Plus 4 Duratec engine, and that may have happened, but the first real incarnation was the 4/4 75th Anniversary Morgans in 2012. After that, the narrow body option, which is basically 4/4 wheels, narrow wings and performance 185/70 tyres appeared on the Plus 4 options list at significant extra cost.................................................

So not many were built. In 2016 when I was placing my order, Morgan told me that they had discontinued this option, so I told them I wouldn't bother. After mine was built, a handful more followed, but not many.

David....to be certain you will have to get them fitted and checked. Clearance on mine with Avons is 3 or 4mm. That's within the inset tolerances, so on some cars it might be Ok, on others not.

That was very interesting and makes more sense when MMC standardised the chassis' Also explains that it's the randomness of the build that either allows Blockley's to fit or not!
Would a car with adjustable camber be able to dial that out enough to clear the top of the strut. Think they came in during 2012?

Because the kingpin would rotate about the top mounting, camber adjustment at the bottom won't increase clearance at the top. If you were brave enough, you could grind a couple of mm off the spring mount. It's rough cast so is possible, but I wouldn't really fancy doing that. There's no scope either for spacing the hub, because it would also require caliper spacing. However with bolt on alloys, a narrow spacer would fix it!

I think DaveW has said it all. My 185's do just rub the BRB's on full lock. FYI my car was built for one of CM's daughters (I am led to believe) It was also the press car for Electric Power Steering. It came on the market shortly after CM left the company.

DB07, like you I have a pre-war car and it has worn Blockleys for the past dozen years. Also had an MGB on which I fitted 4 new Blockley radials. I am a confirmed adherent - I'd fit them in preference to most other makes. They are as good as most other premium brands, and often considerably cheaper. There is a reason why pretty much every VSCC race paddock is filled with cars sporting Blockley tyres!

My 4/4 has Yokohamas though - Blockley didn't have that size and Tim Ayres did me a deal on them!

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your input. Blockley has confirmed that their radial is exactly the same size as the Avon CR6ZZ that she’s currently sporting, so I aam going to give them a try.
