When did "Pleaded" get overtaken by "Pled" in the media? I know both can be used, but every single time I hear "Pled" it drives me nuts. Do I need distracting?

I get annoyed with technical acronyms ,I don't understand most of them and have to look them up.

jbk .... I was always taught that the first time you used an acronym in a written piece you 'translated' it in full words ... and then used it freely thereafter in the same text.

My real Grumpy Old Man issue is ‘The Three Nut Syndrome’ it where you need three nuts for every bolt because you are going to drop at least two. A mate bought me a telescopic magnet, unfortunately I can’t find it.
