Taking my 2008 +4 to LeMans classic this year. It has a stainless sports exhaust and is quite low. What is your experience?

I have never had a problem on a ferry. The people loading you are normally very helpful - they don't want you to get stuck and mess the job up.

We are regular users of Brittany Ferries. We’ve never had any issues. Just take it slowly on the ramps. Have a great trip. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

We tend to use the Tunnel more than ferries, no issues there either...well, unless the d1ck in front can't start his brand new Range Rover

I must be the odd one out here. Mostly with Brittany at Plymouth, despite my telling a series of operatives on the way through, I have often ended up having to negotiate the ramp with attendant grounding. Stena to Ireland on the other hand were exemplary; one operative even getting down on hands & knees to ensure clearance. Think a lot depends on how busy they are, etc. No guarantees so it’s Pot luck as once you are on deck there is no time to argue.

When negotiating a bump or a sudden change in gradient it’s best to approach at an angle rather than straight on as this increases ground clearance.
If all else fails, try asking your passenger to temporarily vacate her seat!
Seriously though, most ferries are very helpful and won’t want you to get stuck.

Changing tyres from the standard 195/60R15 to 195/65R15 gives you almost 1 cm extra ground clearance on a Plus 4.

Took my 2013 Plus 4 on Brittany Ferries last year and no problems at all however would suggest following others advice about accessing ramps at an angle rather than straight on. I also find breathing in helps for some reason……
